Department of Otolaryngology We are Akademiska Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. Here something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us you will experience both challenging trials and amazing events, in a strong community with colleagues. Welcome with your application! Our Operations The Department of Otolaryngology (ENT) diagnoses and treats diseases and conditions affecting the ears, nose, sinuses, oral cavity, upper airways, as well as hearing and balance. We are primarily a surgical department with both planned and emergency services. Surgery can range from straightforward procedures to extensive tumor surgery in the head and neck region. We also have emergency services in the form of an urgent care clinic within ENT that during evenings, nights, and weekends is located on the ward and staffed by department personnel. The urgent care clinic receives patients with, among other things, infections in the ear, nose, and throat area, nosebleeds, dizziness, and severe airway obstruction. The department has 12 beds in single rooms. Patients are divided into care teams staffed by nursing assistants and nurses. We care for both children and adults, with hospital stays ranging from less than one day to several weeks. Your Assignment The care needs of our patients are highly varied and the work is based on a strong focus on highly specialized nursing care. As a member of the department, you are expected to contribute your professional expertise and commitment to create safety, continuity, and high trust in patient interactions. Basic care includes pre- and postoperative care. Highly specialized nursing includes assessment and management of airway problems, bleeding from the nose and throat, and care and management of tracheostomy patients. The department has a special focus on diseases of the upper airways, with a pronounced emphasis on tracheostomy care. If you lack prior experience in this area, we offer structured, activity-adapted training in tracheostomy care as part of your orientation. Your Qualifications and Competence We are looking for you as a trained nurse, preferably with a few years of experience. If you have experience working with ear, nose, and throat conditions, that is a merit. As a person you are stable, solution-oriented, confident, and empathetic. You are responsible, always keep the patient in focus, and appreciate teamwork. What We Offer Stimulating work in a highly specialized care environment. Opportunities for continuous professional development and training. Thorough and individually tailored orientation. A multidisciplinary team with the patient at the center. This is a permanent position starting by agreement. We are seeking nurses who can work nights.
