About Us The Surgery Clinic operates comprehensive services in surgery, urology, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, and oncology. We have two inpatient wards in Karlskrona and three outpatient clinics, including one in Karlshamn. We also operate imaging services and emergency departments in Karlskrona and operating rooms in both Karlskrona and Karlshamn. Together, we are just over 200 employees. On care unit 49, all surgical patients admitted through the emergency department are treated. We care for patients with surgical conditions such as head injuries, pancreatitis, ileus, and kidney stones. We also treat patients with breast, thyroid, and vascular diseases outside the heart and brain. Major trauma patients are also cared for here. A large portion of our activities involve emergency admissions, with the remainder being planned procedures. Department 49 was named Workplace of the Year in Region Blekinge in 2024—a recognition we are incredibly proud and pleased about. Our care unit is staffed with physicians, registered nurses, nursing assistants, care assistants, medical secretaries, and kitchen personnel. Follow us on Instagram! #kirurgklinikenblekinge About the Job Working on a surgical inpatient ward often means working at a fast pace and may require you to make quick decisions. You will gain broad expertise and work with patients pre- and post-operatively, cancer patients, end-of-life patients, and trauma patients. Your duties include medication handling, central lines, nasogastric tubes, drains, wound care, stoma care, and urinary catheters. This enables you to develop in your role as a registered nurse. Working hours are day, evening, night, and weekend shifts, and we use individual scheduling. About You We are seeking a qualified registered nurse. Experience working on a surgical ward or a specialist qualification in one of our areas is desirable but not required. It is essential that you have an empathetic approach and good communication based on sound ethics, as patients and their families have the right to participation and information in decisions about their own care. We also value good collaboration with colleagues and the ability to prioritize tasks while remaining calm in demanding situations. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
