At the Neuro-Head-Neck Center at Umeå University Hospital, approximately 650 people work with various aspects of investigation, treatment, and rehabilitation of diseases and injuries affecting the nervous system, brain, ears, nose, and throat. The Neurology Clinic is a specialist clinic in neurology and neurosurgery. We receive referred patients from physicians when specialist expertise is needed for assessment, treatment, and follow-up.
Beyond general neurology and neurosurgery clinic services, we operate several diagnosis-specific teams, including neuroimmunology (MS), Parkinson's, epilepsy, ALS, NPH (normal pressure hydrocephalus), and DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation). Multiple professions work together here to provide patients with safe, high-quality care.
As a nurse at the Neurology Clinic, you'll experience varied work in a multifaceted and complex environment where no two days are the same. You'll combine direct patient care with administrative tasks and have opportunities to develop expertise across the clinic's various service areas.
The position includes general clinic work and work within our diagnosis-specific teams, with work on the Parkinson's team being part of your responsibilities.

WORK DUTIES
As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge, dedication, and professional conduct that make people feel secure.
You serve as a hub for patients and the various professions on the team, including physicians, social workers, dietitians, secretaries, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. An important part of your work involves conducting independent nursing consultations and providing support, information, and advice to patients and their families.
The Neurology Clinic at Norrland University Hospital serves patients from the entire northern healthcare region. As a nurse, you play a central role in planning, implementing, and following up on patient treatments. You also serve as a knowledge resource and adviser for nursing colleagues within and outside the region.
Work duties include planning clinic operations, coordinating outpatient care services, scheduling and calling patients for physician and nursing visits, providing telephone advice, and following up on treatments. You actively participate in quality and development work, collaborate with external partners, and assist in mentoring staff and students.
The work involves significant independent responsibility for patient treatment and follow-up while being an important part of a multidisciplinary team where close collaboration is essential for good care outcomes. Work tasks are varied, and you have considerable flexibility in planning and structuring your workday according to the clinic's needs and mission.
In collaboration with other clinics within the base unit, work at other units or with different hours may occur during vacation periods and occasional weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
We're looking for you as a licensed nurse with interest in neurology and person-centered care. Experience working in outpatient care and/or knowledge of neurological conditions is advantageous. We also appreciate experience with the Cosmic medical record system.
To thrive and succeed in this role, you need to appreciate a combination of independent work and close collaboration with colleagues in multiprofessional teams. You're confident in your professional role, take responsibility for your tasks, and have the ability to plan and prioritize your work in a structured manner.
