Cardiac Ward C4 is part of the Internal Medicine operational area, which also includes the Medical Ward, Stroke Ward, and Geriatric Ward. C4 has two physician teams and three nursing teams. Cardiac Ward C4 has 15 beds, all with individual patient rooms. Two of these 15 rooms are HIA units. All patient rooms have cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia or ischemia monitoring. The most common diagnoses are acute coronary syndrome (ACS), cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, postoperative care after CABG and pacemaker implantations, and pulmonary embolism. Inpatients are evaluated for ACS, and we have excellent collaboration with Nya Karolinska in Solna. Patients are transported to Stockholm, usually by helicopter, sometimes by Swedish Ambulance Air Service. This includes logistics coordination with the hospital's planning unit and cardiology/vascular services at NKS. When patients undergo PCI or CABG, they return to our ward for aftercare before discharge. It is unique to be able to follow a patient's entire care pathway in this way, and it is exciting and educational. A cardiac patient's condition can change rapidly! Then it is crucial to act accordingly. We work with safe procedures and have good collaboration with the emergency department and ICU. Otherwise, we maintain close contact with bed coordinators, PEV, the cardiac clinic, and the emergency clinic. Work tasks not directly related to patient care are performed by other staff as much as possible. Your Responsibilities You are responsible for patients in one of the nursing teams. At night, we have three nurses and one nursing assistant. In addition, the nurse performs standard duties on a cardiology ward/HIA. We offer competency development through a three-stage training program in cardiac care. The three stages consist of two to three-day trainings in Stockholm at various hospitals. The possibility of an educational appointment for specialist training in cardiac care can be discussed during employment. Who Are You? You are a licensed nurse. We consider it meritorious if you have experience or training in cardiology or acute care. Have you not worked in cardiology before but are curious and want to learn something new? You are welcome too! You enjoy working in a team and collaborating across the entire ward when the situation requires it. You are attentive and independent. Pace changes around a cardiac patient are frequent, and flexibility and prioritization are part of our daily routine. You have a positive attitude toward ward work, as we depend on each other to provide professional cardiac care to the people of Gotland.
