The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (SiS) is an agency responsible for individualized compulsory care for youth with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also manages closed youth care. We operate youth homes and facilities for adults with substance abuse problems throughout the country. Working at SiS presents an exciting challenge. We accept men with mental health problems and men with disruptive behavior. We are tasked with providing care for clients with special care needs. Job Description Nurse training in the field of nursing care contributes specific expertise in preventing and improving, as well as restoring and maintaining the health of those cared for at SiS. The nurse must provide good healthcare and nursing care, which includes planning nursing care, implementing and following up on nursing interventions, and taking responsibility for and leading nursing work. The nurse's primary areas of responsibility and work at SiS include medication management, health assessments and nursing interventions, and collaboration with both internal and external parties regarding healthcare in connection with placement, during care, and prior to discharge from SiS. Key duties for a nurse at SiS: Responsibility for medication management including ordering, preparation and administration of medications, as well as follow-up and evaluation of the patient's prescribed medications. Responsibility for controlling and managing medication and signature lists. Educates staff in safe medication handling and delegates medication management tasks to relevant staff at the facility, and follows up on the delegation. Participates in treatment teams relevant to the facility and contributes healthcare expertise in treatment planning. Assesses and plans for patient care needs, and manages relevant contacts with regional healthcare units in the patient's care chain. Assesses and performs nursing interventions and measures for health problems that arise in daily facility care. Conducts health assessments including planning and following up on interventions both internally and in the external care chain. Prepares incoming issues for doctor's rounds and collaborates with physicians during rounds and assists in follow-up work, such as monitoring planned and completed interventions. Contributes with the facility's other healthcare unit in the systematic quality and improvement work of healthcare at the facility. Conducts educational initiatives within nursing and healthcare for the facility's staff. Qualifications Education Licensed nurse. Knowledge and Skills Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, for example work in substance abuse care or psychiatry. Experience in work where assessments and interventions are made for various mental as well as somatic conditions, for example in primary care or emergency care. Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both in writing and orally. Employment: The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
