As a captain in our organization, your responsibilities include: Onboard leadership and operational responsibility for the crew and cargo in Gothenburg's southern archipelago in a safe and efficient manner Working closely with your own crew and other crews, where collaboration and physical work, such as loading and unloading, are a natural part of the workday Leading and motivating the crew through friendly and clear leadership Ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with applicable safety regulations and company procedures Creating an open and forgiving work environment through constructive feedback where all employees feel valued and engaged For us, it is important that you are confident in taking on a leadership role, are comfortable making decisions, and are the person the crew turns to for support and guidance in their daily work. You are an ambassador for the employer and through your friendly and clear leadership you contribute to making work onboard a pleasant and engaging workplace. You: Have relevant nautical officer certification at least Class VI and previous experience, preferably in inland shipping Possess all certifications required for the role, such as a valid medical certificate and basic maritime safety training Hold a Category B driver's license Have good physical condition Are law-abiding, drug-free, have no criminal record, and have no debts to the Swedish Enforcement Authority Are solution-oriented and flexible Are responsible and honest Meritorious qualifications: Forklift certification ADR 1.3 Food handling training As a captain, your task will be to create conditions for the crew to do their job well. This may include everything from coaching and feedback to ensuring they have the right equipment and work clothes. You are skilled at leading and delegating work. You are humble and clear in your communication and you believe it is important to work as a team onboard where you yourself are a team player and role model. Personal qualities will be of great importance in the recruitment of these positions. Practical Information Employment form: Permanent full-time position with a six (6) month probationary period Start date: Late summer/fall 2026, no later than October 1 Salary: Collective agreement wage rates Working hours: Starting at 06:00 Monday–Friday. End times vary according to the current schedule.
