The Botanical Garden is a place where the diversity of the plant world is at the center. Educational activities are directed both at schools and educational organizations through lessons and professional development, as well as to the general public through exhibitions, tours, and events. Botanica is one of Europe's largest botanical gardens with approximately 75 hectares and 20,000 unique plants from more than 130 countries. The Botanical Garden in Gothenburg is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region. Job Description We are now seeking to strengthen the Technology, Service and Arboretum unit. The Technology and Service group is tasked with supporting the core operations of our garden. This is an exciting time at Botaniska right now. We have just moved into the first phase of our new beautiful greenhouses. The remaining parts and a new visitor center will be ready in 2028. The planned opening to the public is in 2030. Technology and Service are responsible for, among other things, property maintenance, maintenance of machinery and equipment, carpentry/painting, maintenance of irrigation systems indoors and outdoors, large-scale composting, and landscaping. You will be part of a team of approximately six employees. We work both independently and together to solve operational tasks in the best way possible. Responsibilities You will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the garden's vehicles, such as wheel loaders, lawnmowers, and electric forklifts, as well as handling contacts with external suppliers and workshops. The unit has a broad mandate, and we often help each other across different areas of expertise. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is trained as a vehicle mechanic and has relevant professional experience. Relevant experience and training/certification to operate heavy vehicles such as wheel loaders/compact loaders is also a requirement. The following training/experience is desirable: Experience from the green industry Experience in welding/blacksmithing Experience in plumbing Experience in carpentry/painting Since the role includes administrative tasks, such as ordering and procurement, you need to have basic computer skills. To succeed as a service technician with us, you are engaged, organized, and thorough. You enjoy varied work tasks, can quickly shift focus, and can work at a fast pace without compromising quality. Together with the unit, you prioritize work based on operational needs. You have a clear safety mindset and take responsibility for your work. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
