About the Role Do you want to contribute to a more sustainable society and ensure the substations of the future for the region? Starting from the turn of the year 2026/2027, Västerbergslagens Elnät will bring a larger portion of the operations in-house. We will then be responsible for the majority of substation maintenance, ongoing maintenance of the distribution network, and implementation of smaller investment and reinvestment projects with our own personnel. To succeed with this initiative, we are now building a strong internal organization and seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer Substations who wants to be part of the journey and develop the electricity networks of the future in Västerbergslagen. At VB Elnät we currently have approximately 37 employees who together accelerate our digital transformation and test and implement new technology that contributes to increased delivery reliability and delivery quality for our customers. We are now seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer Substations who wants to take responsibility for the development and maintenance of our larger substations in the local network and regional network up to 130kV. Your Responsibilities As Senior Maintenance Engineer Substations, you will have a central role in the development and management of our substations. You are responsible for both the strategic and operational planning of maintenance activities and ensure that our facilities continue to deliver high operational reliability, personnel safety, and availability for many years to come. The role encompasses responsibility for power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, control and monitoring equipment, DC systems, battery systems, and substation buildings and support systems. You will work closely with the operations organization, project activities, contractors, and management to plan, prioritize, and implement the right measures at the right time. In the role you will, among other things: - Manage maintenance strategies and long-term maintenance plans for our substations. - Direct and coordinate substation engineers, substation technicians, and contractors in daily maintenance work. - Ensure that work is performed according to ESA, EBR, applicable legislation, and internal safety requirements. - Plan and follow up inspections, surveys, and ongoing monitoring of substations and equipment. - Develop budgets, calculations, and decision-making materials for maintenance and reinvestment measures. - Coordinate landowners, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders throughout the maintenance process. - Follow up on faults, disturbances, inspection remarks, and analyze improvement measures. - Ensure that substation documentation, drawings, and facility data are kept up to date. - Participate in projects related to renovation, modernization, and new installation of substations. The role can be described as being divided into two parts, where one part focuses on the technical development of our substations, asset management, and operational reliability, while the other part focuses on work management, coordination, and cooperation with substation technicians, contractors, and other parts of the organization. Requirements We are looking for someone who has: - Engineering education in electrical power, electrical engineering, or equivalent. - Several years of experience from electricity network operations, electrical power plants, or technical maintenance. - Experience working with high-voltage installations. - Good understanding of maintenance planning, asset management, and technical risk assessments. - Good knowledge of Swedish, as the language is used in daily work. - Driver's license category B. It is a merit if you have experience with: - Regional substations within 50–130 kV. - Power transformers, protective relays, control systems, or substation automation. - ESA, EBR, and work within the electricity distribution industry. - Asset Management systems and technical documentation systems. - Work management or coordination of technical resources.
