About the Assignment
We are seeking a Senior Scrum Master on behalf of our client, an organization in public transportation. The assignment has a hybrid arrangement where on-site presence is required three days per week.
Background
Our client is an innovative organization working to improve and simplify people's daily lives by offering efficient, sustainable, and user-friendly solutions in public transportation. The operation is dedicated to creating more accessible, environmentally friendly, and comfortable public transportation for everyone, with values of welcome, care, and respect.
Every day, a very large number of people travel on the organization's public transportation to work, education, medical visits, or other purposes. Taking public transportation should be both simple and attractive, and the organization works intensively to develop the customer experience. In addition to general public transportation, the organization is also responsible for paratransit services, medical transport, and other on-demand traffic.
The Digitalization & IT Department works to meet travelers' needs and support colleagues in operations, with the ambition to offer some of the best digital services in public transportation.
The team you will work with is an analytics platform group of approximately 10 people, of which 7 are developers. The team is in a comprehensive transformation phase—both regarding team structure and technology. This transformation phase has been ongoing for some time and will continue in the coming years.
The team is characterized by joy and an open culture where soft values are highly appreciated. All new development maintains high quality, and to maintain work satisfaction, cohesion, and quality, a central person is needed to catch up with and support team members through different phases.
You should have high empathy and compassion for the people behind the developer role. You will become a central part of the team and support and coach both developers and the product owner. Initiative and responsiveness to the team's needs are valuable, as is the ability to be adaptive to change and proactive in your approach, given the ongoing transformation phase.
Responsibilities
As a Scrum Master, you are responsible for one or more teams and work to help each team operate effectively and according to agile principles. You work to optimize the team's processes and remove obstacles that can affect the team's efficiency or progress, to ensure delivery according to plan. You also support the team in following the organization's processes and drive the adaptations the team needs to make to comply with these.
You are a key person in promoting a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the team. In this role, you are expected to have a good understanding of the organization's goals and strategies, agile methods, and the team's conditions and needs, and you serve as a driver for the team's development.
Facilitating the team's agile meetings, for example:
- Planning meetings
- Retrospectives
- Daily standups
- Demos
Support regarding working methods and processes:
- Coach the team in agile methods and principles
- Ensure that the team's work processes function effectively and follow the organization's processes
- Develop the team in how it functions as a group
- Contribute to developing the team's capacity and ability to deliver high-quality solutions
- Coach in identifying, implementing, and following up on improvement areas
Support in daily work:
- Identify and remove obstacles that affect the team's ability to deliver value
- Strengthen the team's own ability to manage and resolve obstacles
- Collaborate with other parts of the organization to solve problems that affect the team's work
- Promote a culture of open communication
