Academic Resource is now recruiting a Senior Accounting Specialist on behalf of a well-established and entrepreneurially driven company in Stockholm. We're looking for someone who wants broad and independent responsibility for the company's finances and who thrives in an operations-focused role with significant autonomy.
The role encompasses the entire accounting flow – from ongoing accounting and accounts management to financial statements, reporting, liquidity management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. You work closely with the CEO and management and become a central figure in the company's finance function.
About the Role
As a Senior Accounting Specialist, you are responsible for the finance function from start to finish. The role combines hands-on accounting work with analysis and financial management. You work with both day-to-day accounting and developing processes, routines, and follow-up.
Your Main Responsibilities
• Manage ongoing accounting, bookkeeping, and accounts receivable and payable.
• Handle invoicing, payments, and follow-up of customer receivables.
• Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and financing.
• Manage liquidity planning and cash flow monitoring.
• Prepare and quality-assure monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Develop financial reporting, key metrics, and analyses for the CEO and management.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, and variance monitoring.
• Track costs, margins, profitability, and capital allocation.
• Handle VAT, taxes, and other regulatory reporting.
• Manage payroll administration and personnel-related expenses and costs.
• Serve as the contact person with auditors, banks, financial companies, the Swedish Tax Agency, and other external parties.
• Ensure that accounting and financial processes comply with applicable regulations.
• Develop and improve financial processes, routines, and internal controls.
• Identify deviations and improvement opportunities and prepare decision-making materials for management.
Your Profile
We are looking for someone with relevant education in accounting, finance, or economics, or equivalent experience. You have experience with qualified accounting work and feel confident independently managing a finance function.
We would like you to have:
• Experience in accounting and financial management.
• Strong knowledge of Swedish accounting principles, VAT, and tax regulations.
• Experience with Fotnox as an accounting system is required. Experience with Smart 365 is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills.
• The ability to analyze financial information and translate figures into concrete conclusions.
• A business-minded approach and interest in the operations behind the numbers.
• Excellent organization, accuracy, and high integrity.
• The ability to independently drive matters from start to completion.
• Strong communication skills in Swedish and English.
As a person, you are self-driven, solution-oriented, and unpretentious. You take responsibility, see both details and the bigger picture, and thrive in an operations-focused environment where you're willing to roll up your sleeves when needed. You are confident in your expertise, take your own initiative, and communicate financial matters in a clear and straightforward manner.
