Mid Sweden University is undertaking a major development initiative to recruit students from third countries (outside the EU/EES). We need to build up an organization within the university and work with agents in various parts of the world.
Mid Sweden University is therefore seeking an experienced senior advisor with deep knowledge of the higher education sector for a strategic and consultative development assignment. This is a strategically important task where you will contribute expertise, analysis, and advice to a development initiative of great significance for Mid Sweden University's future.
Job Responsibilities
The assignment is consultative in nature and will be carried out in ongoing close dialogue with university leadership and, in due course, with the "International Student Recruitment Manager" responsible for this area. It may, for example, include:
- Contributing to recruitment processes
- Supporting and serving as a mentor to the International Student Recruitment Manager
- Advising and assisting in the development of project plans and similar documents
- Contributing valuable contacts and relationships
- Providing recommendations and strategic input for future work
Your Background
We are looking for someone with:
- At least five years of experience in the higher education sector
- At least five years of experience recruiting fee-paying students
- Experience building up similar operations at other educational institutions
- A good understanding of team-driven, goal-oriented, and efficiency-focused work
- The ability to provide clear and strategic advice in complex environments
Your Qualities
For this role, you need a strong analytical ability and the capacity to quickly gain an overview of complex situations. You communicate clearly and inspire confidence, and you have the ability to explain complex issues in an understandable way. You are receptive and can see different perspectives, while at the same time providing well-founded and strategic recommendations with integrity and good judgment. You contribute to professional and open collaboration across different parts of the operation. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
Employment and Start Date
The position is a fixed-term employment comprising 20% of full-time, starting October 15, 2026, or by agreement, but no later than December 31, 2027, with a possible option for extension.
Work Location: Sundsvall or Östersund. Travel is part of the work, and there are good opportunities for flexibility between on-site and remote work.
