Digidem Lab is seeking a project manager who wants to work at a democracy lab committed to developing democracy and strengthening the role of ordinary people in the transition toward a more sustainable society. The position involves leading projects in citizen participation, deliberative democracy, and civic engagement. You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle – from initiation and planning through implementation, monitoring, and closure. You will work closely with our clients, partners, and colleagues and lead processes where residents, decision-makers, public officials, and civil society meet. We are looking for someone with solid experience in project management with many different stakeholders and who has hands-on experience with deliberative processes, such as citizens' assemblies, citizen panels, or similar forms of citizen participation. The position is a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension. About Digidem Lab Digidem Lab is a values-driven, cooperatively-owned democracy lab that develops the future of democracy together with municipalities, public agencies, universities, and civil society. We help the public sector create better decision-making processes through citizen dialogue, deliberative democracy, and digital participation. We work with citizens' assemblies and citizen panels, participatory budgeting, digital democracy, and local organizing. We conduct consulting assignments, training, and innovation projects and collaborate with organizations at local, national, and international levels. About the Role As a senior project manager at Digidem Lab, you have a key role in our projects. You are responsible for initiating, planning, leading, implementing, monitoring, and closing projects together with our clients, partners, and colleagues. This could involve leading a citizen panel with a municipality, developing and implementing a large-scale participation process, or coordinating an international project with organizations from several countries. You are responsible for ensuring the project maintains the right quality, timeline, and budget, and for ensuring that the necessary people and resources are in place. The role is both independent and collaboration-oriented. In some projects you are the primary project manager, in others you work together with colleagues and external partners. Your Main Areas of Responsibility You lead projects from start to finish and are responsible for: initiating and launching new projects developing project and activity plans planning time, resources, and staffing coordinating colleagues, consultants, and external partners managing project budgets and financial monitoring leading project meetings and monitoring deliverables managing relationships with clients and collaborating partners documenting and reporting on project implementation evaluating results and lessons learned. You are expected to be able to hold together multiple aspects of a complex project and create clarity around responsibilities, deadlines, and deliverables. Deliberative Processes and Citizen Participation A central part of the role is to project-manage processes where people are given the opportunity to participate in and influence societal development. You will, among other things: plan and implement citizens' assemblies, citizen panels, and other participation processes design frameworks and project plans for citizen participation plan and lead workshops and dialogue meetings coordinate participants, experts, clients, and other stakeholders ensure that processes are implemented inclusively and with high quality document and evaluate the processes compile results and lessons learned. We are therefore looking for someone who not only knows deliberative methods in theory but who has documented practical experience implementing deliberative or participation processes. National and International Projects Digidem Lab works both in Sweden and internationally. You may therefore project-manage collaborations with municipalities, public agencies, civil society organizations, universities, and international partners. The role may involve travel within Sweden and internationally. We believe you are an experienced project manager who likes to get things done. You are accustomed to independently driving projects and always see opportunities for development. When something needs to be solved, you take the initiative, involve the right people, and move the process forward. We Are Looking for Someone With several years of documented experience in qualified project management documented experience with deliberative processes, such as citizens' assemblies, citizen panels, or equivalent experience designing, implementing, and evaluating citizen participation processes experience planning and leading workshops and meetings experience with budget and resource responsibility in projects experience working with the public sector and/or civil society strong ability to communicate in Swedish and English ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others. It is advantageous if you have experience with international projects, EU-funded projects, participatory budgeting, digital democracy, or other forms of democratic innovation.
