Senior Design Manager for Building and Infrastructure Construction – Gothenburg Area Assignment Duration: 2 years with the possibility of extension for an additional total of 2 years. Scope: Full-time – 40 hours per week. Start: By agreement, no later than December 1, 2026. Location: Gothenburg area, on-site work five days per week. About the Assignment The client is seeking a senior design manager for building construction for a long-term and technically advanced infrastructure project in the Gothenburg area. You will be responsible for leading and coordinating the design of construction documents for, among other things, temporary support structures, deep excavations, geotechnical constructions, and permanent concrete structures. The role involves clear overall responsibility for the design's content, progress, coordination, and deliverables. You will work closely with project management, contractors, design consultants, and technical specialists, and need to be confident in driving complex technical matters from investigation to implementable solutions. Responsibilities Plan, lead, and monitor design work. Take responsibility for the design's content, progress, and deliverables. Coordinate different technical areas and manage technical interfaces. Lead and document design meetings with specialists, consultants, and contractors. Identify and drive technical issues and critical milestones. Lead review processes and work related to structural documentation. Participate in risk management and occupational health and safety matters. Manage redesign, technical investigations, and changes during the production phase. Participate in scheduling and production planning. Requirements for the Role You need to substantiate the following through your CV and, for the core experience requirements, through relevant reference assignments: Academic education in construction/civil engineering equivalent to at least 180 credits, or alternatively another combination of education and experience that can be assessed as equivalent. At least 5 years of documented experience over the past 10 years as a design manager with primary responsibility in at least one major infrastructure project. The role must have involved primary responsibility for planning and leading the design of construction documents, not merely project management where design management was a minor part. The experience must have included responsibility for content, coordination, progress, deliverables, and interfaces between multiple technical areas and stakeholders. At least 2 years of documented experience in design management in at least one infrastructure project in an urban environment with a contract value exceeding 500 million kronor. The project must have involved multidisciplinary design including geotechnics, structures, environment/surroundings impact, and production. Documented experience with occupational health and safety work during the design phase. Good knowledge of technical regulations for major public infrastructure projects, including the process for approval of structural documentation. Good knowledge of contract law and AB, ABT, ABK, AMA, and MER. Very good Swedish and good English, both spoken and written. Good proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to work full-time and be on-site in the Gothenburg area five days per week. Meritorious Particularly meritorious is documented experience in: Design management of construction documents for deep excavations and support structures in urban environments, particularly excavations deeper than 12 meters in soft clay and rock. At least 12 months of such experience. Leading multidisciplinary design during ongoing production phases. Independently driving late-stage technical changes or alternative solutions from investigation and decision through design and updated documents. Large infrastructure projects exceeding 500 Mkr containing, for example, concrete tunnels, concrete troughs, complex geotechnical construction, or deep excavations with temporary support structures. Workplace and Setup Work is conducted mainly during normal office hours and requires physical presence in the Gothenburg area five days per week.
