Are you an experienced design engineer who wants to work close to product, technology, and development in an R&D environment? Do you thrive in a role where you can combine mechanical design in CATIA with technical collaboration, problem-solving, and systems thinking? Here you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the development of complex products and gradually take on greater technical responsibility in an organization undergoing an exciting transformation.
About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be part of a development team working with gasoline-powered chainsaws and associated engine components. The team is responsible for both product maintenance and new product development, which means you'll work on technical improvements to existing products as well as developing new solutions. There's a close connection between design, lab activities, testing, requirements definition, and the product's actual function.
The organization is currently undergoing a transformation where new roles, working methods, and decision-making processes are being shaped. The focus is on working more efficiently, making more decisions close to operations, and creating closer collaboration between different functions. You'll become part of a team with a good mix of junior and senior colleagues, where you'll have the opportunity to contribute your experience while continuing to develop professionally.
In this role, you'll work with mechanical design and product development in a technically advanced environment. You'll be involved in developing robust, geometrically secure, and sustainable designs where mechanics, function, requirements, and product integration need to work together. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, design engineers, lead engineers, platform leads, R&D, and other surrounding functions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work with mechanical design and product development of complex products and components
• Contribute to product maintenance, improvement initiatives, and new product development
• Develop and further refine design solutions in CATIA
• Work with geometry, interfaces, robust design, and product system functionality
• Collaborate closely with project managers, design engineers, labs, testing, and other technical functions
• Drive technical issues forward in a structured and solution-oriented manner
• Break down complex problems into smaller parts and convert them into concrete activities
• Contribute to development of working methods, collaboration approaches, and shorter decision paths
• Gradually take on greater technical responsibility related to product integration, interfaces, and long-term development
What We're Looking For:
• Several years of experience in mechanical design and product development
• Strong proficiency in CATIA
• Understanding of geometric design, robust design, and interfaces between different product components
• Experience working systematically with technical problems and design solutions
• Ability to see both details and the bigger picture in a product
• Experience collaborating with multiple functions, such as R&D, testing, project management, production, or labs
• Fluent in Swedish and English, as both languages are used in internal collaboration
It's not necessary, but a plus if you have:
• Experience taking on overall technical responsibility within design or product development
• Experience with complex products with high technical requirements and many interfaces
• Previously worked as a senior design engineer, technical sub-project manager, lead engineer, or in a similar role
To thrive in this role, we believe you're someone with strong self-leadership, good organizational skills, and genuine passion for technology and product development. You take own initiatives, seek out the information you need, and thrive in an environment where you can combine technical problem-solving with collaboration. We also see that you're unpretentious, communicative, and good at creating alignment between different stakeholders. Since the role involves many contact points, we believe you have the ability to drive issues forward, find well-balanced compromises, and contribute to solutions that are best for the whole.
