Senior IT Security Technician – Firewalls & Network Security
Assignment Description In this role, you will work independently to maintain a secure, stable, and well-functioning communication environment. You will collaborate closely with other IT and information security functions, where your analytical skills translate complex security requirements into practical, implementable solutions. Your main responsibilities: Firewall Management: Manage administration, configuration, maintenance, and development of firewalls in large-scale environments. Rule & Policy Management: Handle, analyze, and optimize firewall rules and security policies, and perform structured troubleshooting and change management. Monitoring & Incidents: Work with log analysis, intrusion prevention (IPS/IDS), and analyze and resolve network and security-related issues. Architecture & Risk: Analyze and assess security architecture, risks, security zones, and traffic flows, and identify protection needs. Collaboration: Participate in implementing new technical security solutions in close cooperation with other IT and security teams. Mandatory Requirements We are looking for a senior specialist with deep technical expertise in network security in complex environments. To meet the required level (Level 4), you have: At least 9 years of documented experience in IT security and network security work. At least 9 years of documented experience in administration, configuration, and management of firewalls in large or complex IT environments. At least 2 years of experience with Check Point firewalls within IT departments in larger organizations, with at least one assignment performed within a major public agency. Documented experience in managing, analyzing, and troubleshooting firewall rules, security policies, and log analysis. Good knowledge of network and security architecture, security zones, network segmentation, and traffic flows. Good ability to communicate in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. Personal Qualities You are an analytical, independent, and solution-oriented person who finds it easy to collaborate across functions. You are accustomed to taking on significant personal responsibility in security-critical environments and have the ability to translate complex security issues into practice.
