We are now seeking a senior IT security technician for the Swedish National Board of Universities and Colleges (UHR).

The agency wants to accelerate systematic security work in line with increased security requirements and threat landscapes in society at large. It is of utmost importance for the agency that IT security maintains a high level and is managed efficiently.
What you will do/be responsible for
As a senior IT security technician, you are responsible for the practical implementation of IT security measures in the agency's IT infrastructure and systems. You report to the Head of Systems and User Support and work closely with infrastructure technicians, workplace technicians, and the IT security specialist. You respond to discovered vulnerabilities and initiate preventive measures to minimize IT security risk.
Examples of work tasks:
Establish and manage security configuration policies in systems and platforms
Configure firewalls
Establish and maintain monitoring alarms that feed into the Security Operation Center (SOC)
Manage solutions for identities, permissions, anti-virus, endpoint protection, and encryption
Follow up on security updates (patches)
Manage IT security incidents
Monitor technology development in the IT security field
Other tasks may also occur as it is a relatively small organization where there is sometimes a need to be helpful in areas within the unit and department that extend beyond the daily role. Additionally, the organization is in a build-up phase where there is an opportunity to contribute your expertise and experience outside your own group.
You as an applicant
You have:
Relevant post-secondary education in, for example, IT/computer science or relevant work experience that the employer considers equivalent
At least 3 years of experience leading, driving, and following up work within operations, maintenance, and monitoring of IT infrastructure, related IT services, and technical platforms
At least 3 years of experience with established methods, processes, and tools within your area of responsibility
At least 3 years of experience working largely independently and in collaboration with others based on applied guidelines and practices within the organization
At least 3 years of experience managing IT security incidents
Very strong ability for business-adapted practical implementation of security solutions
Good knowledge of laws, regulations, and frameworks for IT and information security such as CIS Controls and ISO 27001
Very strong ability for proactivity, holistic thinking, flexibility, and collaboration
Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
It is meritorious if you have:
Certifications in IT security
Experience managing platforms for data security, data governance, and compliance such as Microsoft Purview
Good knowledge of system administration and management of infrastructure platforms such as Windows and Linux
Experience from the public sector
To perform well in the role as senior IT security technician, you have a strong interest in technology and enjoy working with various types of technical IT solutions. You are communicative, a team player, and have an easy time building trust with colleagues. We place great importance on personal suitability.
