About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand facilities, and client transportation. The Transport Department's task is to transport detained persons. The transports mainly involve correctional clients, between remand facilities and prisons, as well as to, for example, court hearings and medical appointments, but also detained persons on behalf of, for example, the Police, the National Board of Institutional Care, the Migration Agency, and psychiatric services. During 2026, TA will conduct approximately 130,000 transports, which includes both domestic and international transports. The Business Support Unit primarily supports the department head but also other units. Support is provided in the form of, for example, developing analyses, strategies, and plans for the department head's entire planning horizon, case preparation, maintenance of cooperation points, and monitoring and development of transport operations. The unit also manages department-wide administration and coordination within various operational areas, as well as the entire Swedish Prison and Probation Service's vehicle fleet. The unit currently has approximately 20 employees divided between two sections, strategic and operational business support. We are now seeking a section chief for the operational business support section, positioned at our headquarters in Norrköping. The position allows some degree of remote work by agreement, but you as an applicant are expected to be physically present at the Norrköping office 4-5 days per week. Job Description Change management is underway within TA, which currently involves an expansion of transport capacity, development of internal and external cooperation with clients, and development of our transport planning system. Operations must be conducted efficiently and within allocated budgets, where competence and material resources are used optimally and in good cooperation. The new section is a result of an ambition to improve planning, management, monitoring, and development of TA. The section chief shall, together with the unit head and the section chief for strategic business support, implement the unit's mission. Your role is to support the unit head in their leadership of the unit. To assist you, you have eleven employees with various responsibilities within vehicles, IT management, PA support, administration, and case preparation. The employees' work tasks are coordinating, quality-assuring, and supportive in relation to operational activities, but also include certain tasks organized at the department-wide level, such as schedule registration and certain matters related to responsibility for the entire agency's vehicle fleet. Flexible working hours apply. Qualifications Who are you? You are a passionate leader who is analytical with strong problem-solving skills, good judgment, and an interest in development and change management work. You see no problems or obstacles, but instead have a strong focus on solutions. We see that you have good collaboration skills and high integrity. Additionally, you are independent and thorough, while also being flexible and unpretentious. As a leader, you create context, engage and inspire your employees, and you are clear in your communication. You are calm, stable, and composed in stressful situations and enjoy juggling multiple priorities simultaneously. You are driven by goal and results thinking, and you prioritize, plan, and act accordingly. To be considered for this position, you must have: An academic education/university degree (of at least 120 credits equivalent to 2 years at university/college), or alternatively other post-secondary education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers equivalent to the section's area of responsibility. Several years of well-documented management experience Experience in leadership within administrative, case handling, or other daily operational staff groups with an understanding of the operational issues the section handles Ability to express yourself well orally and in writing in Swedish Good knowledge of the Office package Experience in business development It is meritorious to have: Current experience from operational work within personnel administration and/or scheduling Relevant leadership training, preferably within public operations Experience working with Heroma with system and process development Understanding of IT systems and governance To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect you and others. Furthermore, you are expected, through your approach, to contribute to everyone being treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Other Information To be considered for employment within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you must meet high standards regarding suitability, judgment, security and confidentiality awareness, and you must comply with applicable laws. This means you stand up for democratic values and the state values that apply to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's operations. Certain positions are classified as security-sensitive, and a security clearance with record check will be conducted before an employment decision is made. For certain security-classified positions, Swedish citizenship is required. The Swedish Prison and Probation Service welcomes applicants with different backgrounds and experiences.
