Do you want to develop the models that form the foundation for Sweden's future railway investments? Job Responsibilities At Trafikverket, you'll have the opportunity to work at the intersection of national economics, transport analysis, and model development. Here, advanced quantitative analyses are transformed into decision-making materials for investments that will impact the transport system for decades to come. We're looking for someone who wants to develop socioeconomic models for railways, work with complex analytical questions, and contribute to ensuring that resources invested in Swedish infrastructure generate maximum societal benefit. We are responsible for Trafikverket's socioeconomic models and analytical frameworks, which are used to analyze and evaluate investments and measures in the transport system. We develop and manage methods and tools in close collaboration with research institutions. We create conditions for robust socioeconomic analyses that are used to make decisions within the transport sector. As an economist focused on model development and railway analysis, you will work with quantitative analyses of the railway system and further develop the models and methods used to assess the effects of investments and measures. In this role, you will, among other things: develop, manage, and quality assure Trafikverket's tools for socioeconomic analysis of railway investments, analyze complex issues related to capacity, accessibility, travel times, reliability, and transport demand, work with research and development projects together with universities, research institutes, and consultants, follow and implement international methodological developments in transport economics and socioeconomic analysis, provide qualified expert support in major and methodologically challenging railway investigations, communicate results, models, and methodology to both specialists and decision-makers. You'll become part of a national unit with high analytical expertise where economists and analysts together develop tomorrow's decision-making materials for Swedish transport infrastructure. Qualifications Who are you? To succeed in this role, you have very strong problem-solving and quantitative analytical skills, work in a structured and thorough manner, and strive to achieve results. You have the ability to understand and explain complex relationships in an easily understandable and pedagogical way, both orally and in writing. Furthermore, you are confident and thrive in an environment where you can communicate and use your strong collaboration skills with both internal and external contacts. We're looking for someone who has: a university or college degree of at least 240 credits (160 points) in national economics or other relevant education (e.g., civil engineering degree in a relevant field) and experience we consider equivalent, several years of professional experience working with socioeconomic models or quantitative socioeconomic analyses, or several years of relevant research or research education experience in national economics or transport economics, or other relevant experience we consider equivalent, strong verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and good knowledge of English. It is meritorious if you have: knowledge of or experience with analyses or modeling in the railway field, education in transport economics or applied welfare theory, a master's degree, licentiate degree, or doctoral degree in national economics or another relevant field, programming skills such as R or Python, experience with data analysis, experience with Trafikverket's socioeconomic and forecasting tools, experience managing assignments and projects.
