F 16 is responsible for Uppsala garrison and the operation of Uppsala Airport. The flotilla is also responsible for monitoring Swedish airspace 24/7, 365 days a year, and leads the Swedish Air Force's fighter aircraft in the air. You will be part of a military organization undergoing major change and development due to the global situation and Sweden's NATO membership. About the Unit 1621 Airfield Company is part of 162 Airfield Battalion and belongs to F 16, Uppland Air Squadron. The company's tasks consist of airfield operations in the form of field maintenance, rescue services, and operation and maintenance of technical systems. The company performs readiness services for fighter aircraft as well as ramp services for transport aircraft and helicopters. The company also has air terminal capability, which is a strategic resource in the Swedish Armed Forces. In the role as communications technician, you will be part of 121 CNS Section. The section is responsible for, among other things, operating the airfield's technical systems for air traffic control. The work tasks consist mainly of operation and maintenance measures on flight safety-critical systems. The position involves continuous training and development. The position requires good physical fitness and there are opportunities for training during work hours. The section consists of a mix of people with extensive experience and a strong desire to deliver results and readily share their experience. Main Work Tasks As a Communications Technician in 6212 Communications and Information Systems Platoon, you contribute to keeping the airfield operational for flying units. In this role, you will independently and as part of a group perform qualified operation, maintenance, and monitoring of ground telecommunications equipment. You are part of the function that maintains the technical infrastructure that is a prerequisite for operating from Uppsala Airport. You also contribute to maintaining flight safety at the airport through the measures carried out on technical systems. The work consists of performing preventive maintenance on power supply, airport lighting systems, landing aids, IT systems, telephony, networks, and radio equipment. In addition to preventive maintenance, the work consists of performing troubleshooting and corrective measures in case of malfunctions. The equipment on which the work is performed is exclusively in active operation and affects flight safety. In your role as communications technician, you will also act as an expert in projects and matters related to the airport's technical systems and infrastructure. The work tasks include conducting training internally in the Swedish Armed Forces and with external trainers to maintain competency on technical systems. The position does not require that you have previous experience with airfield systems. Within the Swedish Armed Forces, we always work as a team. REQUIREMENTS Qualifications - Upper secondary school education with passing grades - Driver's license category B - Experience with operational/technical work tasks Personal Qualities We are looking for someone with very good teamwork ability. MERIT FACTORS - Upper secondary or post-secondary education with a focus on electronics, electrical work, machinery/vehicles, or equivalent knowledge that the employer can assess as equivalent. - Completed Swedish military service, GMU, or equivalent Swedish military basic training with passing grade. - Experience with electrical, radio, telecommunications, and data communication. - Experience with installation work in electrical, telecommunications, or data. - Experience working at an airport. - Several years of experience with technical work tasks, preferably within a larger operations organization.
