About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more employees. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand facilities, and inmate transportation. The Stockholm East operational area encompasses two closed prisons: Österåker and Täby. We employ primarily correctional officers, but also care personnel, teachers, administrators, production managers, and other important professional groups. Inmates at the prisons are occupied with education, treatment programs, workshop activities, and assembly and packaging assignments. Österåker Prison is in an exciting expansion phase with new prison facilities and activity centers being commissioned between 2025 and 2027. There are excellent opportunities to grow with the organization – both in terms of staff numbers and in new, exciting roles. The prison is located outside Åkersberga – a car is the most convenient way to get there. Täby Prison is a small facility with a family-like environment and good commuting options. Both facilities offer staff parking. Job Description As a security technician in the Stockholm East operational area, you work with high-tech, network-connected security systems and share responsibility with your colleague for local development, operation, maintenance, replacements, service, self-inspections, and troubleshooting. This includes master alarm systems, communication systems, assault alarm systems, CCTV/camera systems, image storage servers, alarm and access control systems, and internal and external telephone systems. You also work with networks, physical and virtual servers, storage, and network monitoring. The role also includes access administration, documentation, record management, inventory and control of security-related equipment, such as keys, and hardware support. Together with your manager, you are responsible for ensuring that the security systems infrastructure meets the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's needs. You plan specifications and orders, ensure that major work is carried out by vendors, and function as technical support for security technology matters. You inform, train, and guide staff in the operation of security devices and are responsible for locks and keys. Work tasks are performed throughout the operational area, including in inmate environments. You share work tasks with another security technician and, when needed, collaborate with technicians at other prisons and remand facilities. You work at Täby and Österåker Prisons. When needed, you also assist other units in the region with security technology matters. Work-related travel is part of the role. Qualifications As a security technician, we see that you have good collaboration skills and a high sense of service. You have the ability to independently plan, organize, and adapt your work and to drive and complete work tasks within set timeframes. Because your function is crucial to operations, you need to be flexible, solution-oriented, and responsive to operational needs. Since the work is complex, you also need good analytical and problem-solving skills as well as practical ability. You have a genuine interest in security technology and security work. We are seeking someone who has: Upper secondary school education, preferably with a focus on technology/electrical/IT or other security technology education that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers equivalent Experience as a technician with comprehensive alarm systems such as master systems, CCTV systems, access systems, or other experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers equivalent Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written Class B driver's license It is also meritorious to have: Post-secondary education in technology/electrical/security Good knowledge of network technology and Windows-based systems Experience working with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's technical systems Knowledge of troubleshooting, connections, and documentation in telecommunication installations Experience with key and lock management Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to eliminate the personal statement and replace it with selection questions relevant to the position.
