About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more staff members. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for correctional facilities, probation services, remand prisons, and inmate transport. The Fosie operational area consists of Fosie Correctional Facility, located on the outskirts of Malmö and built in 1986. Operations are constantly evolving, and a remand prison is expected to open in the fall/winter of 2026. Currently, the facility has 173 beds for male inmates in security class 2, managed by approximately 300 employees and 10 managers who administer, lead, and develop operations. When the remand prison opens, there will be 56 beds for remanded inmates and 101 correctional facility beds for men.
