The Swedish Armed Forces' central flight safety management is primarily organized within the Air Command. With new requirements in the areas of airworthiness and aircraft maintenance, the flight safety management is being complemented with a new role, Safety Manager. The position is established as a deputy to the Chief of Flight Safety in the Air Command's Safety Department.
Key Responsibilities
As Safety Manager, you will work at operational and strategic levels in close collaboration with airworthiness organizations, technical managers, operational managers, and other safety functions within the Swedish Armed Forces.
The role includes:
- Lead further development and implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS)
- Develop and manage the Air Command's safety work within airworthiness, CAMO, M, 145
- Conduct and follow up on safety risk analyses within CAMO & 145 operations
- Handle and analyze safety reports, deviations, and incidents
- Define and monitor SPIs within airworthiness
- Lead or support safety investigations within airworthiness
- Identify safety trends and propose risk reduction measures
- Participate in safety forums, safety reviews, and management reviews such as Safety Review Board
- Coordinate safety-related issues between the Air Command, squadrons, workshops, and other relevant stakeholders
- Be responsible for developing a safety culture within airworthiness
- Train the organization in SMS
The work is conducted within the framework of:
- Swedish Armed Forces regulations for military aviation RML:
SE-EMAR CAMO, SE-EMAR M, SE-EMAR 145, SE-EMAR 21
- National military airworthiness directives
- Safety management according to SMS principles
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Relevant academic education or equivalent experience that the employer considers equivalent
- Several years of experience from military or civil aviation operations
- Experience from CAMO / M / Part-145 operations
- Human Factors training
- Experience in flight safety work, risk management, and airworthiness
- Good knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Good ability to analyze and assess risks within technical or operational flight operations
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
- Experience leading operations, or management experience
- Category B driver's license

The Air Command's first and foremost task is to support the Air Force Chief's command of all squadrons and schools in the air force at all levels of the conflict scale.
