Care and supervision of students are other important parts of the assignment. Based on the school's needs, the work can be carried out with individual students or with a group. The work aims to help students develop, as much as possible and based on their own conditions, in accordance with the goals of education. The position as an educational support specialist has its main focus on IMA, but also includes work tasks at the secondary school's national programs, which may vary from year to year based on the school's needs. IMA students have not yet obtained the passing grades from lower secondary school required for admission to a national program. Education is designed individually for each student, where both goals and content are formulated based on the student's needs and conditions. IMA at Anna Whitlock Secondary School has a profile primarily aimed at students within the autism spectrum (AST). Teaching takes place in smaller groups and in a calm environment with a homeroom. The tasks are varied, alternating, and sometimes challenging. This may involve helping a student find focus in their studies or assisting in finding individual solutions so the student can acquire knowledge. It may also involve supporting the student in social situations during school time, in various activities during breaks, in changing rooms, at meals, or on field trips and outdoor days, etc. You work closely with teaching staff and special educators where you both receive instructions and collaborate on how the work should be carried out. The work is performed both independently and together with other staff members. Your competence and experience You who apply have completed upper secondary education and at least one year of documented experience working as an educational support specialist in the school's upper grades or from similar assignments that the employer deems equivalent. You have experience working with young people with special support needs. Experience working with introductory programs and young people within AST is a merit. The work requires that you have patience and can adapt your communication and approach based on the situation. You are secure, trust-building, and understand the importance of being a good adult role model. You can work independently and take initiative. In your interactions with students and guardians, you are clear and responsive to students' needs. You have good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
