Here you'll work with maintenance and repair of freight wagons in a family-like and knowledgeable work group where people help each other, develop together, and take great responsibility for an important societal transport flow. About the Position As a freight wagon repair technician at SweMaint, you'll work with maintenance and repair of railway wagons for freight transport. The work is largely mobile with a truck, and you'll carry out assignments both independently and together with colleagues. Your work tasks include troubleshooting, wheel changes, brake replacements, and replacement of other mechanical components. The role is practical, varied, and involves outdoor work year-round, which means you need to enjoy active work in different environments and weather conditions. You'll be based at SweMaint's operations in Umeå, where the team currently consists of 12 employees. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 07:00–15:30. Who Are You? We're looking for someone who is handy, curious, and has an interest in mechanics. Perhaps you've worked as a repair technician, mechanic, service technician, assembler, or in other practical work – or you're someone who enjoys tinkering in your spare time and wants to develop within a new field. Previous experience from the railway industry is a merit, but not a requirement. What matters most is that you have the right attitude, want to learn, and feel comfortable taking responsibility. Any knowledge you may lack will be built through both practical and theoretical training during your employment. We believe that to thrive and succeed in this role, you: have a strong safety mindset are practically minded and enjoy problem-solving are comfortable working outdoors year-round have good teamwork skills and enjoy working with colleagues have good physical fitness, as the work can involve heavy tasks are self-driven and take responsibility for your work tasks have experience using digital systems, such as computers, iPads, and email A Class B driver's license is required. Very good Swedish in speech and writing is required, as documentation and instructions are in Swedish. You also need to be able to work with numbers in your work. It is a merit if you have a Class C driver's license, welding competence, a C2 forklift license for wheel loaders, authorization for vehicle-mounted cranes, or experience with outdoor work year-round. If you lack any of these qualifications, SweMaint can offer training depending on needs. To work at SweMaint, you also need to meet the health requirements that apply to work in track areas.
