Storuman Municipality is now seeking an engaged and strategic principal for Vallnäs School Grades 4–6 who, in addition to your principal duties, will also serve as the municipality's student welfare director. This position is part of our initiative to develop and strengthen leadership in Storuman Municipality's schools. By creating more manageable assignments with fewer students and staff per leader, we provide better conditions for close and engaged pedagogical leadership with a focus on students' learning and development. At the same time, we strengthen support for operations and create a more sustainable and attractive work situation – where our leaders have good opportunities to succeed in their roles. About the Workplace Vallnäs School Grades 4–6 is characterized by strong and well-functioning work for security, well-being, and good relationships. Students are met with clear, warm, and supportive leadership where everyone is seen and where the school's shared approach permeates the entire operation. The school actively works to create participation, community, and a positive learning environment – something that is also confirmed by both leadership and staff extensively conducting successful and systematic work for a good school climate. The assignment includes close collaboration with the principal for grades 7–9, where the operations are on the same school grounds with several shared facilities. This creates good opportunities for daily dialogue, collegial support, and shared responsibility for school development. Together, you will have a strong foundation to drive school development, exchange ideas, and meet daily challenges with alignment and strength. Duties As principal of Vallnäs School Grades 4–6, you are responsible for educational operations with a focus on high goal achievement, security, and development for all students. You lead and organize daily work and ensure that instruction is based on scientific foundation and proven experience. The principal assignment is the main part of your role. In your role as student welfare director, you have overall responsibility for leading, coordinating, and developing the municipality's comprehensive student welfare work. You work strategically to strengthen preventive and health-promoting work throughout the entire education chain and ensure that student welfare is an integrated part of the school's core mission. Lead, develop, and follow up operations against set goals Manage personnel, work environment, and budget within your areas Drive systematic quality work Lead and develop pedagogical work with focus on increased goal achievement Coordinate and develop student welfare work in the municipality Ensure that student welfare works preventively and promotes health Collaborate with internal and external actors Qualifications We are seeking you if you: Have a teaching degree. It is advantageous if you have also completed the state principal training. Have experience working as a principal or in another leadership position within educational operations Have good knowledge of governing documents and current laws in the school sector Have experience with student welfare work, relevant legislation, and a good understanding of its various professions Are a clear and confident leader with the ability to create engagement and participation You are a strategic and development-oriented leader who sees the big picture and has the ability to translate visions into practical work. You are communicative, relationship-building, and have a genuine interest in students' learning, development, and well-being.
