At Realgymnasiet in Västerås, we are now seeking a principal who wants to take overall responsibility for an established operation with strong industry connections and a clear vocational profile. We currently offer hairdressing and styling programs, and a natural resources program with specializations in horse management, animal care, and nature tourism. Our educational programs are built on close collaboration with industry and a clear focus on combining students' interests with knowledge and professional skills. We have approximately 230 students and just over 30 employees with varying levels of employment at the school. We know that meaningful learning begins with students' personal interests. We are seeking an operationally engaged principal for Realgymnasiet Västerås As principal, you have overall responsibility for the school's operations, staff, and finances. You lead the pedagogical work, drive systematic quality improvement, and ensure that we continue to deliver stable and good results. The role involves you: Leading and developing the operation based on clear goals and follow-up Responsible for budget, resource allocation, and work environment Ensuring high quality in instruction and student outcomes Building and maintaining relationships with industry and collaboration partners around apprenticeships Being a present and trustworthy representative for the school in interactions with students, guardians, and external stakeholders Actively contributing to the school's long-term development and attractiveness You work closely with teachers, student support services, and administrative staff, creating structure, clarity, and engagement in daily operations. As Principal, you are part of the gymnasium manager's leadership team for Team Nord and collaborate with principal colleagues within the group. The role combines clear pedagogical leadership with strategic responsibility for the school's continued position and development in the region. This position is a permanent employment beginning with a six-month probationary period. Initial contact and interviews will be conducted in August. Qualifications To be suitable for this assignment, we see that you have: A completed higher education degree with a pedagogical focus or equivalent. Experience in leadership roles such as lead teacher, work team leader, or similar. Initiated or completed principal training. It is an advantage to have: Experience as an assistant principal or principal. Pedagogical experience from gymnasium level. Experience from vocational programs.
