Unit Mission The Local Development Unit's mission is to strengthen the Swedish Red Cross's local association and engagement development. This includes responsibility for supporting the development of local and regional capacity to conduct local activities based on local needs, activity plans, and strategic direction. In collaboration with regional councils and districts, we plan interventions that strengthen implementation of the activity plan decided annually by the board. The unit is geographically divided into five areas with clear regional responsibility and collaborates with the Swedish Red Cross's employee organization, districts, and regional councils. Each team consists of a regional development manager who has a coordinating function for interventions directed at the region, as well as local association developers. We are now seeking a regional development manager for Team Southern/Northern Norrland, covering Jämtland/Västernorrland to Norrbotten counties. The Role of Regional Development Manager You are responsible for driving, coordinating, and leading regional development in dialogue with elected regional council representatives and have a process-leading role where you coordinate central support to districts in the region to realize our mission according to strategic direction, broken down into regional development plans. You are also responsible for regional and local collaboration areas that are highly relevant to our capacity to operate in a supportive role and implement our humanitarian mission. This includes both internal and external representation where you are expected to build relevant external networks within your area of responsibility. The work is based on the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement's models for association and district development. You report to the unit manager and serve as team leader for the team in your region, consisting of six association developers. About You To be successful in the role, you must have: A university degree in a relevant field, such as organizational development, political science, or other education where organization, change management, and social science are important components 5-7 years of relevant work experience Experience with organizational development/process management Experience with data-driven work to improve efficiency, quality, and goal achievement Leadership experience Experience guiding others in complex matters Experience representing and engaging in dialogue with authorities, municipalities, and networks Experience with association and volunteer development and association democratic processes Very strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish Merits also include: Good knowledge of the Red Cross's work, its districts, and volunteer activities Experience leading work in crisis and understanding of government and municipal crisis preparedness structures Experience working with vulnerable people To be successful in the role, it is important that you have the ability to convert strategic plans into practical activities where you clearly lead your team through complex processes. It is a prerequisite that you are good at collaborating with others, have pedagogical and communicative skills, and are driven by making our activities better. You have an ability to build long-term relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and elected representatives, and your engagement is characterized by trust and confidence. It is important that you as a person have good knowledge of the Red Cross's values and activities and can represent these in external contact points. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability. Other Information The position is a permanent full-time employment based in Umeå where we apply a six-month probationary period, with start as soon as possible after agreement. We apply goal-oriented working hours and flexible work, which means you have the opportunity to work from other locations based on the organization's conditions and in consultation with your manager. The position includes travel to districts and colleagues throughout the region, sometimes nationwide. This involves overnight stays and work with some regularity, on average 1-2 trips/month.
