The Economics and Planning Department is responsible for the university's financial management, accounting, financial statements, budgeting and forecasting work, financial monitoring and analysis, financial administration, invoice handling, travel services, operational planning and monitoring, as well as procurement. The department's mission is to work with both ongoing operational activities and development and strategic issues within its areas of responsibility. The department consists of the Accounting and Operational Economics units and a staff. Mid Sweden University is now seeking an accounting economist (financial specialist) for a fixed-term position as a financial specialist within the Accounting unit. The unit handles budgets, forecasts, project support, accounting, financial statements and annual reports, invoices, and Mid Sweden University's travel coordination. An important part of the work is to provide good service and support to the operations on financial matters. The department works in the Unit4 ERP accounting system (Agresso) and uses Hypergene for budgeting and monitoring. Job Responsibilities You are one of six financial specialists working with accounting matters, financial statements, monitoring and analysis, as well as the financial parts of interim reports and annual reports. Furthermore, you will actively participate in the development and adaptation of university-wide financial processes, accounting and management models, and conduct internal training. University-wide financial matters are handled on an ongoing basis within the unit and distributed among financial specialists according to areas of responsibility. If needed, you will also be involved in budgeting and forecasting work. Your Background We are looking for someone who has: Relevant university degree Several years of experience working with accounting Good ability to communicate and document in Swedish and English Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have: Experience working with finance in the higher education sector or other state operations Experience with Unit4 ERP (Agresso) and Hypergene Your Qualities The role requires you to be structured, have good analytical ability and be problem-solving. Furthermore, you are service-oriented and have good collaboration skills. You work independently within the position's areas of responsibility. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. Employment and Start Date The employment is a fixed-term full-time position with start date August 17, 2026 or by agreement, until March 31, 2027.
