For us, accounting is not just numbers in a system. It is a prerequisite for our volunteer rescue personnel to be ready to respond – around the clock, year-round. About Swedish Maritime Search and Rescue Society Swedish Maritime Search and Rescue Society is a non-profit organization with approximately 146,000 members, 73 rescue stations, and more than 270 rescue units along Sweden's coasts and in our largest lakes. Our approximately 2,500 volunteer rescue personnel carry out thousands of member and rescue operations every year. We are entirely dependent on our members, donors, and others who choose to support our operations. Our overarching goal is zero fatalities at sea. Swedish Maritime Search and Rescue Society has a 90-account to raise funds and operates with the help of member fees and donations from individuals, organizations, and companies, entirely without state subsidies. About the Role As an accounting economist, you will become an important part of our finance department and will have independent and broad responsibility for accounting and financial administration. You will be part of a small, cohesive team of three people who help each other, share knowledge, and have close access to decision-making. The role combines qualified accounting work with financial monitoring and support to operations. The position is full-time and located at our head office in Långedrag. Our accounting and finances are both extensive and complex, with responsibility for project accounting and results tracking for the entire organization. Your Main Responsibilities Ongoing bookkeeping and account reconciliations Participate in and take responsibility for parts of monthly and annual financial statements Accruals and quality assurance of accounting Financial monitoring and analysis of costs and revenues Management of member fees, collected funds, donations, and bequests Administration and monitoring of securities Payroll administration Handling of expenses and travel reimbursements Financial support to operations and our stations Contribute to development and efficiency improvements of finance processes Participate in the implementation of Business NXT and continued digitalization Who Are You? We are looking for someone with several years of experience in qualified accounting work who feels confident in ongoing accounting and financial statement preparation. You have a good understanding of financial flows and enjoy working carefully with details while also seeing the bigger picture. We believe you have: Relevant academic education or vocational training in accounting/finance, or equivalent experience At least 5–10 years of experience in qualified accounting work Good experience with ongoing bookkeeping, monthly and annual financial statements Experience with financial monitoring Experience with project accounting Experience with payroll administration Experience with securities management Good system skills and experience with Business NXT and Hogia is a plus Good knowledge of Excel and a generally strong digital interest Preferably experience from non-profit or donation-funded operations, as well as experience handling gifts, donations, or bequests As a person, you are thorough, organized, and solution-oriented. You work independently but also thrive in a team and collaborating with many different contacts.
