About the Operation The Conversation Center for Children and Young People in Avesta is part of First-Line Child and Youth Psychiatry. We offer easily accessible interventions for children and young people aged 6-17 years with mild to moderate mental health issues. Work takes place in close collaboration with parents, schools, social services, and other healthcare providers. Here you will find a smaller, cohesive team where you as an employee have great opportunity to influence both your own work and the operation's development. This is a combined position where you also work within the Youth Center's activities, which serves young people aged 13-24 years. The Youth Center's mission is to promote physical, mental, and sexual health, strengthen identity development, and offer support and treatment for mental health issues and life-related difficulties. The work is characterized by a holistic perspective and low-threshold interventions where young people can easily seek support. An important new working method in Region Dalarna is One Way In, which started in November 2025. The aim is to create a more equitable and accessible healthcare system where each individual receives assessment and support based on their unique needs. The function provides advice, support, and referrals to partner organizations, and when needed, an in-depth assessment with triage to primary care or child and youth psychiatry (BUP). Collaboration is a central part of the work, where you cooperate with, for example, school health services, social services, BUP, health centers, rehabilitation, and family centers. Together we work to create a holistic view of the child or young person, where the right intervention is provided at the right time. This is a shared position in the southern area, between Youth Services and Youth Center, in both Avesta and Hedemora. Work Tasks As a psychologist with us, you will have a meaningful role working to prevent, identify, and treat mental health issues in children, young people, and young adults. The work consists mainly of therapeutic and supportive conversations, both individually and together with important adults such as parents and other relatives. You work with assessment, shorter and more targeted treatment interventions, and follow-up. You have the opportunity to use various psychological treatment methods based on your expertise, such as CBT-based interventions, and you have great freedom to plan and structure your work. An important part of the mission is collaboration around the child or young person. You participate in network meetings, coordinated individual planning (SIP), and healthcare and collaboration meetings together with other stakeholders. You become a key person in contributing to coordination of interventions and ensuring a holistic perspective based on the individual's needs. Qualifications Requirements: Licensed Psychologist Category B driver's license Meritorious: Experience working with children, young people, and families Experience working in first-line psychiatry or similar operations Personal Qualities: We are looking for someone who is comfortable in conversations with children and young people and has a strong ability to work both independently and in a team. You have a strong commitment to improving children's and young people's mental health and are structured, responsible, and empathetic. Selection is ongoing - do not delay submitting your application.
