Our Operations Full-time Ward 4B consists of 14 beds and is directed toward patients with alcohol, drug, and/or medication addiction who require detoxification treatment or withdrawal support. Admissions occur either through the psychiatric emergency care unit or outpatient care, but can also be scheduled from municipal addiction services. All treatment is based on an individual care plan. The ward has doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, a clinical pharmacist, and a case manager. Based on patients' individual needs, we collaborate and consult other psychiatric specialist competencies at Akademiska Hospital to ensure patients receive good care. The operations are part of the Section for Addiction and Neuropsychiatry, a cutting-edge section where research and care development are prioritized. All staff have access to supervision, and we actively work to improve the work environment. We also work strategically to improve patient care and ensure that relatives have an active role and support. The staff on Ward 4B is open, positive, secure, and competent, making it easy to join as new personnel. Your Assignment As a nurse in psychiatric full-time care, you have an important role in the team working with patient recovery. In collaboration with colleagues from different professions, you assess and plan the individual patient's need for support, care, and treatment. You work close to the patient and collaborate with psychiatric outpatient care, other care providers/community institutions, and relatives. You are responsible for, among other things, documentation and medication administration. Supervising students and new staff members is a natural part of your work tasks. It is important that you have a genuine interest in working with people with psychiatric issues and that you want to help develop our operations. Your Qualifications You must be a licensed nurse, preferably with experience working in psychiatry. As a person, we would like you to be positive, driven, engaged, flexible, and solution-oriented with the ability to prioritize among varying work tasks in a changing environment, have an open view of people, and enjoy challenges. We also require that you have good service spirit toward both patients and colleagues and external parties. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Specialist nurse education and previous work experience in psychiatry are advantageous but not required. If you are a newly graduated nurse, we are a perfect ward for you to become confident in your nursing role and gain broad experience in addiction psychiatry. After an introduction adapted to your needs, an stimulating work environment awaits where no two days are alike. Work on the ward gives you broad insight into various psychiatric conditions. After completing the introduction, you will be assigned a mentor during your first year. The mentor is an experienced nurse, and the purpose of mentorship is to make your first year on the ward even more secure. The ward manager and assistant ward manager, who in their base profession are specialist nurses in psychiatry, are very much present and involved in daily operations. If you are an experienced nurse, you will be able to develop your leadership skills with us and take responsibility for developing various areas based on your interests and the department's needs. Good knowledge of Swedish is a requirement. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and your ability to fit into our team. We work based on evidence-based methods and place great importance on care development and research within addiction care. Even if you have not yet completed your nursing education but will be finished in January 2027 and have an interest in psychiatry, you are welcome to apply for the position.
