Lund University is now seeking a Pro-Rector who, together with the Rector, will develop the university's education, research, and collaboration and who will leverage the broad university's opportunities. The Pro-Rector assists the Rector in their role as head of authority and the university's principal representative. The Pro-Rector serves in the Rector's place when the Rector is absent. The Pro-Rector is part of, among other things, the university leadership and rector's management council. At Lund University, the Rector and Pro-Rector are expected to work as a team that complements each other and together leads the university. You should: be an academically well-established professor with solid current experience and a very strong ability to conduct, develop, and lead teaching, research, and collaboration with the surrounding society be an experienced and clear academic leader and manager with personal integrity and decision-making ability who can translate visions into action and take a strategic approach be responsive, responsible, and engaged, and demonstrate an empathetic approach where high ethical awareness and the ability to reflect on operations, employees, students, and your own leadership are of utmost importance be a relationship builder with a strong ability to create consensus around visions and strategic goals and have experience in driving university matters at local, national, and international levels have extensive experience working in international contexts and strong ability to communicate well orally and in writing in Swedish and English The Pro-Rector's mission includes, together with the Rector: safeguarding and promoting collegial decision-making, academic freedom, and the university's autonomy safeguarding and promoting sustainable and strong student influence, which is central to the university's activities at various levels ensuring that education and research maintain the highest international quality, enrich each other, and are intertwined serving as the university's principal representative, working to strengthen collaboration with the surrounding community, and actively participating in public discourse working for a sustainable and attractive study and work environment where equality, diversity, and equal conditions and a sense of belonging are central for students and employees working for sustainable economic conditions that strengthen the university's long-term competitiveness and quality, and leveraging the potential in research infrastructures important to the university combining the role of academic leader with the Rector's role as head of authority working for openness that is balanced with systematic security efforts working and communicating in a complex and decentralized organization by creating effective and collaboration-oriented management structures We welcome applicants who can demonstrate qualifications that strengthen their ability to take on an assignment of this nature.
