Project Manager for the Local Projects Unit

Uppsala University is seeking a project manager for the Local Projects Unit at the Building Department. Here you will work with local projects that support the university's research and education across a wide variety of facilities, ranging from high-tech laboratories to cultural heritage environments. The Building Department is responsible for the university's facility management and works to ensure that facilities are fit for purpose, cost-effective, and sustainable in the long term. The Local Projects Unit consists of six project managers and a project director, who oversee both major and minor local projects. Responsibilities As a project manager, you will lead the university's local projects through various stages, from needs analysis to implementation. The role involves close collaboration with the university's various operations and property owners. The project manager is responsible for, among other things, early-stage investigations, project planning, project economics including budgeting and follow-up, decision-making materials, and procurement of items such as furniture. The project manager represents Uppsala University throughout all stages of the local project. The work involves numerous contacts and requires strong ability to coordinate different stakeholders. Qualifications We are looking for someone with: A relevant academic degree in, for example, construction, real estate, architecture, or project management, or equivalent competence that the employer deems equivalent. Very strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish. Experience leading projects. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who is organized, independent, collaborative, communicative, and analytical. Desirable/Meriting Qualifications Experience with laboratory renovations Experience with procurement according to the Public Procurement Act (LOU) Experience with facility planning or strategic facility management Experience from a university, public sector organization, or other complex organization.
