As a Project Engineer with a steel focus, you will play a central role in implementing NCC's contract for SSAB's new steel mill in Luleå. You will be an important part of the project organization and work closely with project management and production with a focus on cost control, contract administration, and production-oriented project support. The role involves contributing to structure, control, and progress through financial monitoring, forecasting, variation order management and deviation handling, as well as monitoring the project's key metrics. About the role of Project Engineer - Steel Focus As a Project Engineer with a steel focus, you work closely with project management and production and serve as an important administrative and financial support throughout project implementation. The role has many contact points and involves collaboration with, among others, project management, production, client, subcontractors, suppliers, and other functions in the project organization. Your main responsibilities include: • Support project management in cost control and financial monitoring • Monitor project costs, forecasts, KPIs, and unit rates, and analyze deviations • Establish and monitor quantity management in quantity-regulated contracts and subcontracts • Administer and monitor variation order work with client, subcontractors, and suppliers • Identify, document, and report deviations and contribute to corrective measures • Review supplier invoices and post to the project's resource account plan • Monitor and obtain documentation from subcontractors and suppliers according to contracts and project requirements • Assist with quality, environmental, and occupational health documentation and risk assessments • Contribute to reporting and final documentation to the client as needed • Identify and drive improvements to the project's working methods and processes An important part of the role is contributing to a well-functioning project team where we share knowledge, help each other, and together solve the challenges that arise. You are expected to take responsibility for your own areas, but also contribute to the project's overall success and progress. Your profile as Project Engineer - Steel Focus We are looking for someone with a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree in Engineering, or other relevant post-secondary education and some years of work experience from construction, civil engineering, or industrial operations. To succeed in the role, we would like to see that you have: • Practical experience with finance-related work within project operations • Understanding of contract administration and variation order management • Good understanding of the construction process and the parameters that affect the project's economy and implementation • Ability to structure and follow up information from subcontractors and suppliers • Strong knowledge of Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing It is advantageous if you have experience from large industrial investment projects, contract operations, or complex construction projects. As a person, you are structured, analytical, and business-minded. You find it easy to build trust and good relationships and enjoy collaborating across functions and areas of expertise. About NCC Green Industry Transformation NCC Green Industry Transformation is a newly established business area that works with large and complex projects within the green industry of the future. NCC and SSAB have signed an agreement for construction and civil engineering work on the eastern half of a new steel mill on Svartön in Luleå – a key project in the transition to fossil-free steel production. The steel mill is expected to be in operation in 2029. However, it is possible to take on this role even if you live elsewhere. NCC arranges travel and accommodation, and 100% physical presence can be Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday.
