As a Project Engineer with a steel specialization, you'll play a central role in implementing NCC's contract for SSAB's new steel mill in Luleå. You'll be an important part of the project organization, working closely with project management and production with a focus on cost control, contract administration, and production-related project support. The role involves contributing to structure, control, and progress through financial monitoring, forecasting, change order management, and deviation handling, as well as tracking the project's key performance indicators. About the Project Engineer, Steel Specialization role As a Project Engineer with a steel specialization, you work closely with project management and production, functioning as important administrative and financial support throughout project implementation. The role has many contact points and involves collaboration with project management, production, the client, subcontractors, suppliers, and other functions within the project organization. Your main responsibilities include: • Support project management in cost control and financial monitoring • Monitor project costs, forecasts, KPIs, and unit rates, as well as analyze deviations • Establish and monitor quantity management in quantity-regulated contracts and subcontracts • Administer and monitor change orders with the client, subcontractors, and suppliers • Identify, document, and report deviations and contribute to corrective measures • Review supplier invoices and post them against the project's resource account plan • Monitor and collect documentation from subcontractors and suppliers according to contracts and project requirements • Assist with quality, environmental, and workplace documentation as well as risk assessments • Contribute to reporting and final documentation to the client as needed • Identify and drive improvements to the project's working methods and processes An important part of the role is contributing to a well-functioning project team where we share knowledge, help each other, and together solve the challenges that arise. Your profile as a Project Engineer, Steel Specialization We're looking for someone with a bachelor's degree, civil engineering degree, or other relevant post-secondary education and several years of work experience from construction, infrastructure, or industrial operations. To succeed in the role, we'd like you to have: • Practical experience with finance-related work within project operations • Understanding of contract administration and change order management • Good understanding of the construction process and the factors that impact project economics and execution • Ability to structure and monitor information from subcontractors and suppliers • Strong knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written It's advantageous if you have experience from large-scale industrial investment projects, contract operations, or complex construction projects. About NCC Green Industry Transformation NCC Green Industry Transformation is a newly established business area working with large and complex projects within the green industry of the future. NCC and SSAB have signed an agreement for construction and infrastructure work on the eastern half of a new steel mill on Svartön in Luleå – a key project in the transition to fossil-free steel production. The steel mill is expected to be operational in 2029. However, it's possible to take on this role even if you live elsewhere. NCC arranges travel and accommodation, and 100% physical presence can be Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday.
