Gothenburg University Library is a knowledge-intensive and development-oriented environment with broad experience in information provision, cultural heritage, archives, and special collections. The University Library works to make accessible, preserve, and develop the use of collections of great importance for research and education. We are now seeking a project assistant for an archive project focusing on photographer Lennart Nilsson's archive.
Responsibilities
As a project assistant, you will work with practical and administrative tasks related to organizing, cataloging, and making archive material accessible. The work may include reviewing material, conducting basic descriptive work, structuring archive documents, and participating in planning and implementing efforts to increase the searchability and usability of the material.
You will be part of a work group at the University Library and collaborate with colleagues in archives, special collections, and digitalization. The work requires accuracy, good organizational skills, and an interest in cultural heritage material and research-related collections.
Qualifications
Academic degree in library and information science, archival science, cultural heritage studies, or other education that the employer deems relevant.
Experience working with archives, documentation, or similar material.
Experience working with photographs and image material.
Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
Experience working in a structured manner with digital administrative or collection-related systems.
It is advantageous if you have experience with:
Digitalization or work with digital accessibility.
Handling of large personal archives.
Project work within libraries, archives, museums, or other cultural heritage institutions.
Personal Qualities
You are thorough, responsible, and have a good ability to work in a structured manner even with extensive and varied material. You can work independently, take your own initiative, and contribute to advancing the work. Since the project is carried out in close cooperation with other parts of the operation, good communication skills and ability to collaborate are important qualities.
Great weight will be placed on personal suitability.
Employment
The employment is a fixed-term, full-time position for the period October 2026-March 2027. Start date by agreement.
