Humlab is a unit and research infrastructure with around twenty employees at the Faculty of Humanities. Humlab's mission is to initiate, inspire and develop the interplay between humanities, culture and information technology. Humlab's premises are located in two buildings on campus, partly in the Humanities Building, partly in the Social Sciences Building under the University Library, where Humlab's lab environment is also located. In this environment, lectures, workshops and other events are offered for researchers, students and the general public.
About the project:
Lohkanlihkku (Reading Joy), a web-based game to strengthen reading skills in five different Sámi languages. The game is being developed in collaboration with our partners at the universities of Jyväskylä and Rovaniemi and the Sámi University College in Kautokeino. Humlab is now recruiting a project assistant with expertise in South Sámi for this project, which is funded by Interreg Aurora and Region Västerbotten.
Description of duties:
The main duties will be:
translate and produce project materials in South Sámi
collaborate with partners in the Interreg Aurora project Lohkanlihkku to map literacy education in South Sámi through surveys and interviews
create game content in South Sámi (words, expressions and sound combinations)
conduct interviews
present the project
The duties may change over time.
Competence requirements:
To be eligible for employment as a project assistant, you must have at least upper secondary school education. For this position, you must have very good ability to speak, read and write in South Sámi.
For this position, you also need good ability to read, write and communicate in Swedish and English, as well as the ability to conduct presentations and interact at meetings (in English and Swedish).
You work independently with the ability to coordinate your own and others' work. Additionally, it is a requirement that you are an experienced user of Microsoft 365.
Other desirable qualifications:
It is a merit if you have previous experience in teaching South Sámi in combination with documented language skills in North Sámi.
Higher education is considered a merit.
Previous experience of working in a university/college is a merit.
Great weight will be placed on personal suitability.
