For more information, please visit the department's website: Department of Aesthetic Subjects The Department of Aesthetic Subjects is now seeking a Professor in Pedagogical Studies with Focus on Aesthetic Subjects. Aesthetic subjects in this context refer to visual art, music, and craft. Job Description The position includes research, teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. The professor is expected to initiate new research, apply for external research funding, and work to develop the department's research environment and doctoral education. This includes developing well-functioning research collaborations with internal and external colleagues within aesthetic subjects and providing support for junior researchers at the department. Supervision, collaboration, and administrative work, as well as personnel, subject, and planning meetings are also part of the position. During the first three years of employment, 50% of the position is dedicated to research. Part of the research time is financed by the Teacher Education School, and the hired person is expected to conduct research relevant to teacher education and school instruction in aesthetic subjects. After the first three years of employment, 30% is dedicated to faculty-financed research time. For the portion of the position financed through educational appropriations, professional development time (20% of the education-financed portion of the position) is provided, which is normally used for research and work on research applications. Qualifications for Appointment as Professor A person is eligible for appointment as a professor if they have demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical excellence in pedagogical studies with focus on aesthetic subjects (Chapter 4, Section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance). Scientific excellence refers to independent research contributions, ability to plan and lead research, and ability to communicate research to the surrounding society. Pedagogical excellence refers to documented experience in planning, implementing, examination, and evaluation of teaching, as well as a reflective approach to students' learning and one's own role as a teacher. Good language skills in Swedish (or another Scandinavian language) and English, as well as the ability to teach in these languages, are required for the position. Equal care shall be given to the assessment of pedagogical excellence and scientific excellence. When weighing these two assessment criteria, scientific excellence shall be given the greatest weight. The content of the position and the needs of the operation provide further justification for the weighting of assessment criteria below. When assessing scientific excellence, particular weight shall be placed on: - Research excellence within the field of pedagogical studies with focus on the aesthetic subjects of visual art, music, and craft. Scientific excellence across a broad range of this field is particularly meritorious. - Ability to successfully lead research groups or research networks. When assessing scientific excellence, considerable weight shall be placed on: - Ability to successfully obtain external research funding. - Collaboration with the surrounding society. When assessing pedagogical excellence, particular weight shall be placed on: - Pedagogical excellence within the field of pedagogical studies with focus on the aesthetic subjects of visual art, music, and craft. When assessing pedagogical excellence, considerable weight shall be placed on: - Breadth of subject expertise within aesthetic subjects as well as scientific methods and theories. - Breadth of experience in teaching at all levels within teacher education. - Ability to successfully supervise within doctoral education. Contributing to the development of the research environment and doctoral education within pedagogical studies, as well as planning and implementing teaching, requires close collaboration with colleagues. Considerable weight shall therefore be placed on good collaboration skills. Furthermore, weight shall be placed on administrative excellence, experience in development work and management assignments, and any other competence and suitability needed to perform the work tasks well.
