Viskan Prison is a closed facility that began receiving inmates in March 2025. The largest occupational group is correctional officers, but the facility also employs healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others. Inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or industrial production. Viskan Prison is most easily accessible by car, and staff parking is available.
Job Description
We are now seeking a Production Manager with a focus on sheet metal and welding!
As a Production Manager, you will have direct contact with our clients in the prison's production facility.
In your daily contact with inmates, your work involves contributing to their learning and also encouraging them to reflect on their situation.
As a Production Manager with us, you participate in all aspects of employment operations, while also having your own specialized area in which you deepen your expertise. You are responsible for guiding and supervising inmates in daily operations. The work involves planning, allocating, and following up on work tasks, while you also participate in production yourself. You are responsible for the entire process, from concept to finished product, with a consistent focus on quality. You also contribute to developing procedures, work closely with other production managers and professional groups, and are an important part of inmates' learning, development, and social training.
As a Production Manager, you are part of security work, which means you may, for example, perform search operations. The role involves no supervisory responsibility for staff, but you are responsible for the daily supervision of inmates.
This position is a temporary assignment due to an employee's leave of absence. The assignment covers the period October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027. There may be an opportunity for possible extension.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is confident, stable, and has self-awareness. You work well with others and have well-grounded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have the ability to make sound judgments and prioritizations. You communicate clearly and have a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge, and you adapt your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's circumstances. You must also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires it.

We are looking for someone who has:
Experience with production work in the manufacturing of sheet metal and metal products
Experience with welding techniques
Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers relevant
It is also considered a merit to have:
Good understanding of sheet metal processing and manufacturing processes
Knowledge of MIG/MAG and/or TIG
Experience with CAD/CAM programs for both 2D and 3D design for laser cutting in sheet metal
Experience with press brakes and bending, preferably complemented with experience of CNC-controlled press brakes
Education in an industrial technology program, engineering program, or equivalent
Work experience in the prison and probation service or similar operations
Ability to lead and allocate work in a production-oriented environment
Interviews are expected to be conducted on Thursday and Friday of week 31.
