Svenska Aerogel is a Swedish listed materials technology company in Gävle that develops, manufactures, and commercializes advanced aerogel materials for industrial applications. The company's material platform, currently marketed as Naerogel® and previously known as Quartzene®, is built on more than two decades of research and technology development in aerogel technology. The material can be used as a functional additive in customers' products to provide properties such as thermal insulation, low weight, improved performance, and new functional material characteristics.
Svenska Aerogel is at an exciting stage. Production is established in Gävle, while the company is moving from the development and industrialization phase toward a more commercial scale-up. Several customer projects are being driven close to market, where the material is adapted for various applications in areas such as coatings and surface finishes, construction and real estate, process industries, textiles, personal care, and other advanced material solutions.
We are now looking for a production manager with a strong technical interest – someone who wants to take responsibility for production today while also helping to build for the next stage.
The Assignment
As production manager, you will have a central role in ensuring that Svenska Aerogel's production remains stable, safe, quality-controlled, and ready to meet increasing customer demands. The role is broad and technically focused. You are responsible for daily production, but also for developing processes, work methods, quality assurance, and production preparedness as customer projects move from development and pilot to commercial volumes.
You will also work closely with the company's R&D, sales, and technical expertise to translate customer requirements, application development, and new order opportunities into functional, robust, and quality-assured production solutions. Because the company is in a scale-up phase, the role is both operational and developmental today: sometimes it's about solving today's production, sometimes about building the structure for the production that will be needed tomorrow.
The team has strong technical expertise, and together you drive improvements in processes, equipment, quality, and production capacity. The role involves close collaboration with the CEO and other key people in the company. You will be part of the company's management team.
Your Main Areas of Responsibility
You will:
operate in an international environment both internally and externally
lead, plan, and develop production at the facility in Gävle
ensure the right quality, documentation, traceability, and delivery capability
drive process development, improvement work, and technical problem-solving
work closely with R&D and sales to understand customer requirements and translate them into production requirements
contribute to scaling up from test runs and customer customizations to more repeatable production
develop work methods, procedures, instructions, and control points for growing production
be responsible for investment projects in the production environment, and participate in equipment matters, maintenance, and technical improvements
be responsible for quality work in the company (ISO9001)
ensure good working environment, safety, and order in production
create a culture where quality, technical interest, responsibility, and improvement work go hand in hand
Who Are You?
We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation who thrives close to production. You take initiative and want to solve problems. You are likely a mechanical engineer, process engineer, chemical engineer, or have equivalent technical experience from working life. What matters is that you have the ability to understand a process in depth, see the connections between technology, quality, equipment, and customer requirements – and translate that into practical production.
You have experience from manufacturing industry, preferably from process industries, materials technology, chemistry, powder handling, paints/coatings, minerals, additives, food, pharmaceuticals, battery materials, building materials, or other production where quality and process understanding are crucial.
We believe you have experience in several of the following areas:
substantial experience in production management or production-related technical responsibility
process development and scaling
quality work, deviation management, and root cause analysis
production planning and documentation
improvement work, such as Lean, 5S, standardized work methods, or similar
technical problem-solving related to machines, equipment, flows, and process stability
work in smaller or growing organizations where you need to be both strategic and hands-on

You have a natural sense of quality and order, but also preferably entrepreneurial energy and the ability to make things happen.
You are a leader who creates participation, clarity, and responsibility. You can communicate with operators, engineers, salespeople, customers, and management – and you bring people along by combining technical competence with clear communication. You are professionally fluent in English, both spoken and written.
