ABOUT THE POSITION
As Head of Production Engineering at Stadler, you will have a central role in developing a production-focused function with significant responsibility for methods, processes, standards, and technical prerequisites.
You will lead a team of production engineers and be responsible for creating stable, safe, and efficient work practices in complex train manufacturing with many interfaces.
You will provide direction for the department's work, develop your team's competencies, and drive improvement initiatives that strengthen our competitiveness. The role involves coordinating production engineering's mission from planning, work methods, and standards to operational support in production and long-term development of processes and work practices. You need to be able to navigate between strategic decisions, tactical planning, and practical problem-solving in close proximity to production.
• Lead, develop, and coach the production engineering team
• Take responsibility for the department's goals, resources, budget, and operational planning
• Ensure that production methods, work instructions, standards, and technical solutions support safety, quality, and delivery
• You are responsible for integrating production engineering's mission from planning and standardization to operational production support and long-term development
• Drive development of production flows, assembly setups, capacity, and flexibility
• Create clear structure for daily management, improvement work, and follow-up
• Drive improvement work according to Lean, 5S, PDCA, and practical problem-solving methodologies
• Develop strategies for capacity, flexibility, assembly flow, work practices, and future production setups
• Ensure close collaboration between production, engineering/design, quality, procurement, project management, and other functions
• Prioritize and direct the department's work based on operational needs and production status
• Develop the team's competencies and create a culture characterized by responsibility, collaboration, and learning
• Represent production engineering in management forums and strategic development projects

As Head of Production Engineering, you are responsible for leading and developing the department while ensuring that the operation contributes to Stadler's overall goals in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This is about more than managing processes.
We are looking for someone who wants to combine strategic thinking with operational leadership and who is driven to develop both people, work practices, and technology. You will become a key person in our organization and an important link between production, design, projects, and management.
• Have experience in production engineering, industrialization, or production development within manufacturing industry
• Have experience leading technical teams or specialists in a production-focused environment
• Have a strong understanding of assembly flows, production planning, standardized work practices, and improvement initiatives
• Are experienced working in complex environments with many interfaces between production, engineering/design, projects, quality, and supply chain
• Have the ability to translate business goals into clear priorities, work methods, and results
• Are a clear, confident, and present leader who creates structure and momentum even in pressured situations
• Have an analytical and business-minded approach with focus on the bigger picture, quality, and long-term development
• Communicate fluently in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
