We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the research group on Health and Healthcare Systems, Leadership and Management at the Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics. The work will primarily be conducted within the framework of an international project applying an ecosystem perspective to the transformation of health and healthcare systems, with a particular focus on the care model hospital@home. Using a systems perspective, the project investigates how specialized and advanced medical care can be safely, accessibly, appropriately, resource-efficiently, equitably, and person-centeredly delivered in patients' homes. This occurs through collaboration between patients, family members, home healthcare personnel, and hospital-based specialists. The project encompasses co-production of care, use of medical technology and digital tools, organizational learning, and development and dissemination of new models for healthcare organization and delivery. Your Role In collaboration with senior and junior researchers, clinical partners, and international project partners, you will have an active role in planning and implementing a multi-method study with case study design, an extensive qualitative component, and a focus on realistic evaluation. The work requires scientific curiosity, initiative, a strong willingness to learn, professional engagement, and personal humility. It also requires the ability to work in a secure and respectful manner at the interface between research, clinical practice, and organizational and international contexts. Main Responsibilities Contribute to further development of study protocols, interview guides, and sampling strategies Recruit and interview patients, family members, health and healthcare personnel, managers, and other relevant stakeholders Conduct and document fieldwork, including non-participant observations Lead or substantially contribute to management and analysis of qualitative data using robust and transparent analytical procedures Coordinate research activities with Swedish care partners and international collaborators Contribute to project meetings, knowledge exchange, and communication of research results to relevant healthcare stakeholders Who Are You? To be employed as a postdoctoral researcher, a doctoral degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree is required. This qualification requirement must be fulfilled by the time the employment decision is made. It is meritorious if you completed your doctoral degree within the past three years; if there are special grounds, your degree may have been completed earlier. Core Requirements Doctoral degree in medical science, health science, nursing, health and healthcare research, health and healthcare management, implementation science, public health, or another relevant field Documented experience with qualitative research, including study design, data collection (e.g., semi-structured interviews and/or non-participant observations), and analysis (e.g., realistic evaluation, action learning, case study research, content analysis, thematic analysis, or mixed-methods research) Documented ability to produce high-quality scientific texts, evidenced through peer-reviewed publications and/or scientific manuscripts Very strong organizational skills and the ability to independently plan, prioritize, and complete work tasks while constructively contributing to a learning-oriented research environment Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written Sufficient knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, to independently conduct interviews and collaborate effectively with patients, family members, professionals, and healthcare organizations in Sweden A clear interest in healthcare management, organization, leadership, patient safety, quality improvement, implementation, or service innovation Ability and willingness to work respectfully and constructively in an international project that brings together diverse cultural, professional, disciplinary, and scientific perspectives Meritorious Requirements Professional background as a physician, nurse, physiotherapist, other licensed healthcare professional, or management consultant, particularly in combination with experience from Swedish healthcare Experience in healthcare management, clinical leadership, quality and improvement work, implementation, organizational development, or healthcare service development Experience in home healthcare, primary care or community care, integrated care, person-centered care, or care for patients with complex needs Experience in patient-engaged research, research involving family members or vulnerable populations, or co-production with relevant stakeholders Experience with international research consortia or collaboration across professional, disciplinary, and cultural boundaries Experience with ethics review applications and responsible management of sensitive personal data or health data Particular weight will be placed on scientific competence and methodological alignment with the project's focus. In the overall assessment, clinical experience and healthcare experience, motivation for the position, independence and self-discipline, collaboration skills in multi-perspective environments, cultural awareness, systems thinking, and communication skills will also be considered. Additionally, the applicant's potential to contribute to the research group's research and educational activities will be assessed. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
