Researcher in audio analysis in CHALS – contribute to the future of health and audio-based diagnostics. Your Responsibilities In https://liu.se/forskning/chals (Computerized Heart and Lung Sounds), we investigate how digitally recorded heart and lung sounds relate to findings from computed tomography of the heart and lungs, echocardiography, and lung function testing, with the aim of contributing long-term to improved diagnostics and sound clinical decisions in the evaluation of cardiopulmonary disease. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be part of your responsibilities, but no more than one-fifth of your working time. Your Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have completed a doctoral degree or hold a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made. You have completed a doctoral degree in computer science or a related technical field. It is meritable if your degree was completed no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, a degree completed earlier may be considered, for example due to various types of statutory leave. We are looking for someone with expertise in machine learning (ML) and statistical modeling, with particular focus on analysis of time series data such as audio or biosignals. You have solid experience and knowledge in modeling and statistics. You have experience developing and adapting deep learning pipelines and are accustomed to making methodological choices in situations with limited, noisy, or heterogeneous data. Experience with Bayesian methods or other probabilistic learning methods for handling uncertainty is meritable. Background in signal processing or audio data analysis is also meritable. You have excellent programming skills in Python and experience with modern ML frameworks. You are driven, accustomed to taking independent responsibility, have good oral and written communication skills in both Swedish and English, and work well in collaboration and presenting results at both scientific and popular scientific levels. Your Workplace You will work at the Division of Prevention, Reproduction and Proximal Care (PRNV), the unit for clinical medicine at the Department of Health, Medicine and Care (HMV), and the Division of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems (AIICS) at the Department of Computer Science (IDA), Linköping University. PRNV is an interdisciplinary research environment where projects span from experimental research to large epidemiological studies and digital interventions. You will be an important part of the CHALS project. About the Employment The employment is a fixed-term position for two years with the possibility of extension for a combined employment period of at most three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time. Start date by agreement. A security check may be conducted before an employment decision is made.
