Responsibilities The advertised postdoctoral position is within an ambitious, 5-year Wallenberg Scholar project titled "Scalable and adaptive inferencing for democratizing AI". In this 18 million SEK project, we aim to dramatically reduce the costs and energy consumption required to serve large language models such as ChatGPT. The work will primarily encompass the design, implementation, and evaluation of distributed systems and networks for machine learning inference. Application of machine learning concepts, with the goal of designing agentic frameworks, will also be part of the project. As a member of the research group, you will be involved in experimental systems work in collaboration with faculty members and several doctoral students at our research lab. You will contribute to scientific publications and new grant applications. The work will be conducted in collaboration with Professor Dejan Kostic and University Lecturer Marco Chiesa. Qualifications Requirements Completed doctoral degree or foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the time the employment decision is made. You must also have a solid background in distributed systems, networking, programming, and operating systems, and excellent knowledge of English in speech and writing as required in daily work. It is important that you have excellent critical thinking skills and excellent knowledge of C++, Python, Linux, and a scripting language. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a desire to experiment and explore and who has international publications in journals and at top conferences.
