Postdoctoral Researcher in Electronically Conductive Polymers for Li-ion Batteries

Popis:

Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in chemistry. The department has 270 employees and an annual turnover of 300 million SEK. The department's six programs conduct highly successful research of high international caliber. We have a large number of externally funded research projects, often with international collaboration, and we see continued good growth within our field. The department has teaching responsibilities within engineering and civil engineering programs as well as master's programs. More information is available on our website. Duties The research project will focus on developing fluorine-free electronically conductive polymers for silicon-based electrodes for lithium-ion batteries. The project will include electrode preparation, cell assembly, electrochemical testing, characterization of interfaces (primarily SEM and XPS, but can also include FTIR, XRD) and development of experimental/analytical methods. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to conduct high-quality research with the aim of disseminating results through high-impact peer-reviewed journals or at national and international conferences. Strong collaboration with Westra Materials as project partners and colleagues within the Ångström Advanced Battery Centre is expected. The main duties of a postdoctoral researcher are to conduct research. These may also include teaching, up to 20% of working time. Qualification Requirements: A doctoral degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or a similar field. The degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made. Preferably, the degree should have been obtained no more than three years ago. When calculating the three-year period, the deadline for applications serves as the starting point. If there are special reasons, such a degree may have been obtained earlier. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, positions of trust within trade union organizations, etc. Knowledge of electronically conductive polymers and polymer technology/polymer physics, as well as experience with battery cell assembly, work with glove boxes, electrochemical testing (galvanostatic cycling), and electrode characterization is essential. The candidate must have good knowledge of written and spoken English. The assessment of applications is based primarily on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research based on scientific competence. Greater weight is placed on the quality of each individual scientific work than on the number of publications. Consideration is also given to good collaborative skills, motivation and independence, as well as how the applicant's experience and competence complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department and how they can contribute to its future development. Desired/Meritorious Qualifications Experience with electrode binders, electrode processing, and other characterization techniques (e.g., rheology, XPS, FTIR, SEM) is desirable. About the Position The position is time-limited for 2 years. Full-time (100%). Start date September 1, 2026 or by agreement. Location: Uppsala University - Ångström Laboratory Information about the position is provided by: Guiomar Hernández ([email protected]) and Daniel Brandell ([email protected]).
