For more information about the position https://liu.se/jobba-pa-liu/lediga-jobb/29809 Your Responsibilities The project focuses on electro-enzymatic coupled catalysis and optimization of reactor systems for sustainable energy and chemical conversion. The research will investigate the integration of electrochemical processes with enzyme catalysis for selective and sustainable synthesis of valuable chemicals, including conversion and upgrading of CO2, bio-based molecules, and other small molecular substrates. Particular emphasis will be placed on efficient integration and coupling of electrocatalytic and enzymatic reaction processes. You will have a leading role in developing research activities that connect the design of electrocatalysts and biocatalysts, electrochemical and enzymatic reaction engineering, mechanistic studies, and optimization of reactor-level performance. The work may include synthesis and immobilization of electrocatalysts and enzymes, electrochemical cofactor regeneration, enzyme-electrode interface engineering, electrochemical and enzymatic testing, product analysis, spectroscopic characterization, mechanistic studies, and optimization of electrochemical reactors and electrolyzer configurations. The research aims to establish efficient pathways for electron and mass transport and to improve activity, selectivity, stability, and scalability of electro-enzymatically coupled catalytic systems. You are expected to conduct independent research as well as collaborative research with others, publish results in international scientific journals, present research findings at international conferences, contribute to research collaborations, and participate in mentoring of junior researchers. You may also contribute to the development of new experimental platforms and research directions within the research group. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be part of your responsibilities, however, no more than 20% of your time. Your Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have completed a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is assessed as equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made. It is meritorious if your degree was completed no more than three years before the final application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, it may be considered as a completed doctoral degree earlier, for example in cases of various types of statutory leave. We are looking for you who have a doctoral degree in chemistry, materials science, biotechnology, chemical engineering, or another relevant field. You should have a strong research background in electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, biocatalysis, bioelectrocatalysis, materials chemistry, or a related area. The position requires good communicative skills in English, both spoken and written, as well as the ability to conduct independent research and to collaborate with others and publish scientific results. We also believe that you have experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: bioelectrocatalysis, CO2 conversion, upgrading of biomass-derived molecules, nitrogen reduction, or related electrochemical and enzymatic reactions synthesis and preparation of catalysts, materials characterization, and interface science design of electrolyzers and electro-enzymatically coupled reactors and optimization of electrochemical systems investigation of electrochemical and enzymatic reaction mechanisms and operando spectroscopy, such as Raman, FTIR, XAS, or other related techniques Documented experience with operando spectroscopy, advanced electrochemical measurement methods, enzyme-electrode interface techniques, electrolyzer or reaction cell design, and mechanistic studies of catalytic and biocatalytic reactions is particularly meritorious. Experience in mentoring students, developing independent research ideas, or working in international research collaborations is also meritorious. You are scientifically curious, creative, and self-motivated. You have good problem-solving skills, a thorough and responsible approach to experimental work, and the ability to work both independently and together with others in a multidisciplinary research environment. You are expected to take initiative, contribute to the development of new research directions, and actively participate in the research group's scientific activities. Your Workplace Lizhou Fan's research group at https://liu.se/organisation/liu/ifm/mdesign, https://liu.se/organisation/liu/ifm, Linköping University.
