The Department of Statistics at the School of Business and Economics (USBE) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Statistics to conduct advanced statistical research. At the Department of Statistics, both methodological and applied research is conducted in collaboration with researchers from other disciplines—primarily with applications in social sciences and medicine. We offer a research environment with access to both international and national networks. For more information, see: www.umu.se/handelshogskolan/om/statistik/ Duties Your research will be conducted within the externally funded research project "3D for 3D: Design, Data Quality, and Data-Driven Decisions—Development of Statistical Methods for 3D Motion Analysis of Clinical Populations," with the aim of developing, evaluating, and implementing statistical methods. The main focus will be linked to sample size determination and reliability for functional data. Additional applied projects related to better understanding of motion data may also be included. You will plan and conduct independent research but are also expected to collaborate with researchers at the department and researchers in other disciplinary areas. The position may, if needed and by agreement, include a minor teaching component. The employment is full-time for two years. Start date November 1 or by agreement. Qualifications and Assessment Criteria The applicant must hold a doctoral degree in Statistics (or equivalent field). This qualification requirement must be fulfilled by the time the employment decision is made. Priority will be given to applicants who obtained their doctoral degree at most three years before the application deadline. An applicant who obtained their doctoral degree before this may be considered under special circumstances. Special circumstances include illness, parental leave, positions of trust within labor unions, or similar. The primary assessment criterion is documented research competence. The candidate is expected to have documented experience with: developing statistical methods for functional data, specifically with a focus on sample size determination or reliability for functional data. the ability to work both independently and as part of a research team. Furthermore, excellent knowledge of programming in relevant programming languages is required, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills in English. You have good social skills and a focused, flexible, and proactive work approach. Documented experience with interdisciplinary research projects and collaborations is advantageous.
