About the Department
The Department for Planning and Development is part of the Education Department's staff division. It also includes the departments of Economics and Administration, HR and Communication, and Digitalization and Innovation.
The Department for Planning and Development works on cross-departmental matters such as planning and monitoring of political goals and assignments, statistics, consultation statements, and decision-making support for department management and boards. The department is also responsible for planning the upper secondary school's organization and coordinating the principal's systematic quality work.
Main Responsibilities
In this role as Planning Manager, you will work with compilations and analyses of various types of student data within upper secondary schools, such as grade results, attendance, student forecasts, and admissions. You will provide the principal and school units with statistics and other materials to analyze the quality of operations and students' goal fulfillment. The unit participates in cross-departmental work on data-driven school development, and you will contribute to developing methods and approaches to deepen and improve analyses at all levels, to further develop operations.
The assignment includes, among other things, the following tasks:
Prepare, process, and analyze statistics at principal and school unit level,
Quality assure data (such as grade and attendance data registered by schools) and identify shortcomings and suggest improvements,
Participate in the development of digital tools for visualization and analysis of statistics,
Provide methodological and process support and train principals and other colleagues within the area of responsibility to increase the department's data literacy,
Participate in systematic quality work at the principal level,
Prepare materials for boards and department management in the form of service statements, reports, and analyses.
You work largely independently but also collaborate with colleagues in the different departments of the staff division as well as business developers, education managers, and principals in the upper secondary school areas. You may be assigned to lead working groups or processes to develop work with data-driven analysis and school development. At the national level, several major school reforms have been implemented or are underway, which the operations need to adapt to, and you have an important role in this.
Qualifications
You have an academic degree in social sciences, economics, statistics, analysis, or other equivalent education that the employer finds relevant for the position. Experience from the school's operational area and knowledge of national governance in school laws and regulations are merits.
To succeed in this assignment, you need to have strong ability to analyze various types of data and see relationships that can form the basis for the department's work to strengthen quality and goal fulfillment. You have good knowledge of Excel at an advanced level and extensive experience in preparing, processing, and analyzing data. You have experience writing and presenting various types of follow-ups, analyses, and reports. It is a merit to have worked with the development of digital tools for statistics and analysis.
It is also a merit if you have used and processed data from/in the systems we use, such as IST, Vklass, and Qlik.
You are quality-conscious, structured, and thorough while having the ability to see new solutions. Since the assignment involves many contact and collaboration points, it is important that you have good collaboration skills. You take initiative and ensure that the work moves forward, whether you work alone or with others.
Your role requires that you have good communication skills that you adapt to different audiences both in writing and orally. Your ability to adapt to changing circumstances is good and you can reprioritize without losing focus on the assignment.
