Description / About me and my everyday life I am a 66-year-old man with ALS who lives alone in my apartment. I have a tracheostomy and receive help with tracheostomy care, suctioning and ventilator support, which means I have double assistance around the clock. I communicate using an eye-tracking computer and a letter board. I receive my nutrition through a feeding tube. I also have a catheter and am treated with insulin for my diabetes. I enjoy going for walks, visiting my children and grandchild, having coffee and watching sports, etc. I frequently visit healthcare facilities and need the assistants' help to get there. Now I'm looking for you who want to work as a personal assistant when my regular staff are absent and give me the support I need to have a safe and meaningful everyday life. Common work tasks for you as a personal assistant As a personal assistant you work closely with the user and provide support in various life situations. The user has life-sustaining support due to having a tracheostomy. To work with the user, you need to be trained in tracheostomy care and receive delegation from the National Respiratory Center (NRC). We will provide you with that training. Since the user does not have verbal speech, you need to be able to support and help him communicate with his surroundings. The user has an eye-tracking computer through which he communicates, but may need help communicating via letter board when he is unable to use the computer. The user has a catheter and is fed via feeding tube. The user needs your help to empty the catheter bag and to connect the tube feeding to the pump. The user also has type 2 diabetes and is treated with insulin. You therefore need to be able to help him receive his insulin by injection. The work also involves support with personal hygiene and household chores at home. The user is mobilized with help from a wheelchair and ceiling lift. You therefore need to help him with transfers. As a personal assistant it is part of the work to participate in developing and implementing plans and routines, so that the user receives support in the way desired and decided. Since the work is performed together with another personal assistant, good cooperation is an important part of the work. Your competence and experience To be suitable for this position you need to: • be at least 18 years old • have experience working within LSS and/or personal assistance • have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written • have experience working with people with ALS • have experience working with people requiring tracheostomy care It is meriting if you have: • nursing assistant training or other relevant education in care and health • experience with dementia and type 2 diabetes • experience working with people who have feeding tubes and catheters • experience working with lifts • experience working with people who need double assistance • experience working with medical equipment • experience documenting, following and working based on individual implementation plans and routines Great weight is placed on your personal qualities.
