Are you reliable, warm, and engaged, and do you enjoy working with children? We are a family in Åkersberga looking for personal assistants for our 10-year-old son. We are seeking someone who wants meaningful part-time work where you get the opportunity to get to know a child and become an important part of his everyday life. We would appreciate it if you have experience working with children or young people with autism, ADHD, intellectual disability (ID) and/or other disabilities. However, you don't need to have worked as a personal assistant before. For us, your personality, reliability, and ability to build a good relationship are at least as important as any previous job title you've held. About the Work As a personal assistant, you will be part of our son's daily life and support him based on his individual needs. The work is largely about creating security, structure, and fun and meaningful leisure time. You therefore need to enjoy being active and doing things together. This could include play, walks, outings, and other activities. At the same time, you need to be calm, clear, and attentive, adapt your approach based on mood and situation, and remain composed even when things become challenging. You will work closely with us as a family and need to be able to follow the routines and working methods that exist around our son. For us, good collaboration, open communication, and mutual trust are important. Who Are We Looking For? We believe that you: - are warm, reliable, stable, and responsible - have experience working with children or young people with autism, ADHD, ID and/or other disabilities - are active and physically mobile and enjoy play, walks, outings, and other activities - are attentive and can adapt to the child's needs and mood - can remain calm and clear even in more challenging situations - understand low-affect interactions, structure, and clarity - are proactive and enjoy coming up with activities - have an easy time building a secure relationship while respecting the child's integrity - collaborate well with us as parents and can follow the routines and instructions that are in place. You must be 18 years old. You don't need to have worked as a personal assistant before. Relevant experience can come from many different settings. Perhaps you work or have worked as, for example, a teaching assistant, support person, childcare worker, youth leader, residential support worker, or within special education, adapted schools, or other care services. Perhaps you are studying pedagogy, psychology, social work, or another relevant field and are looking for meaningful work alongside your studies. What is most important to us is that you have relevant experience, a genuine interest in working with children, and that the personal chemistry between you and our son works well. Work Hours This is primarily a part-time position, with the possibility of recurring shifts for the right person. Work primarily occurs: - weekday afternoons and evenings - weekends - during school breaks and other holidays - when needed when regular assistants are unavailable. We appreciate that you have some flexibility, but we also try to plan work shifts as far in advance as possible. For the right person, there may be opportunities for recurring and more regular shifts. Employment Terms The assistance is organized by the family independently, and you are employed directly by us as your employer. We are affiliated with Fremia and are covered by the collective agreement for personal assistance between Fremia and Kommunal. The form of employment is determined based on the scope of work and needs in accordance with the collective agreement. For occasional shifts due to unforeseen extra needs, hourly employment may be relevant. For more recurring work, another form of employment according to the collective agreement may be relevant. Wages, overtime compensation, and other employment terms follow the collective agreement. The work is subject to confidentiality. Workplace The work is based in Åkersberga in Österåker Municipality, but as a personal assistant, the workplace is wherever our son is. The work may therefore also involve accompanying him on activities and outings. Since many shifts are in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends, it is an advantage if you live in or near, for example, Åkersberga, Täby, Vallentuna, Vaxholm, or adjacent areas. Proximity is especially valuable if you sometimes have the opportunity to step in with relatively short notice. Background Check Because the work involves personal assistance to a child, you will need to show a valid background check clearance intended for work with children with disabilities before any potential employment. The report contains information from the criminal and suspicion registers. The background check should not be sent with your application. It becomes relevant only if we move forward in the recruitment process and you are offered the job.
